3 year old dicipline issues

Hi All,

I have a great son who's just turned 3 and lately i just feel like i'm doing everything wrong. i'm pregnant with my 2nd baby 16 weeks along and have had really bad morning sickness and been so tired, but he's not listening, he's being so cheeky(in a bad way) but i think mainly it's the not listening that's driving me crazy :wall:, and the screaming, i know he hears me but is choicing to push the boundries to the extreme.

If anyone has any suggestions on dicipline for me i would greatly appreciate your feedback.

I had issues with my then 3 year d when I was suffering with bad morning sickness early on. She was very challenging, all I could do was tell her the behavior was not ok!!! And put her in time out or tell her she couldn't watch her Dora DVD that night. It seemed to work. I now have a new bub and am using these same techniques, this is not to say she doesn't scream her head off and be challenging occasionally but it's a bit better because she knows we mean business goodluck with it.

My DD is the same and she turned 3 in Feb, the constant NON-listening is driving me and DH nuts. I am also pg but only 12 weeks along and had to fight some pretty bad MS as well. It got so bad that for about 3 days straight, I swear she spent approx half her day in the naughty corner. We took things away that she liked ( tv mainly and one favorite toy) and after 3 days of us being consistent with her screaming or talking back to us, it calmed right down and sure she still does but as Crowe said, she knew we meant business. I also found that the calmer and almost non-chalant we are with her tantrums, the more frustrated she got but in the end had to give up as she was getting no reaction from us and ended up in the naughty corner...so, in summary, but firm but not angry or yelling (which is hard sometimes, especially with pg hormones in the body!) The naughty corner worked for us and she basically didnt come out til she calmed down and apologised for her behaviour. We also took tv & fave toys, we cancelled a visit to the library as she was not behaving properly, obviously reinforced by the constant reminder that it is NOT ok to yell at mum and dad. Whatever you say, you got to stick to it. I think its all about testing how far they can push us poor parents...so be sure to not entertain the tantrums and set some limits.
