high amniotic fluid levels
Just wondering if anyone has had amniotic fluid levels at the higher end of the scale and what it means? At 32 weeks it was 10 and then at 36 weeks it was 24 which apparently 25 is the max it should be.
I have GD but I am diet controlled and levels are fine. Bubs has a small problem with the left kidney but I don't think this has anything to do with the fluid levels. Anyone else have any suggestions as to what could be causing it or what they do about it? I'm almost 39 weeks.
high amniotic fluid levels
Hi I have had extra fluid with all with pregnancys but with ds3 I was confirmed with polyhydramios my fluid level was 28cm at 38 weeks!
No problems with any of my boys (ds3 has hypospadias but was told the higher fluid was not to do with it seeing as I was carrying extra with each of them, the only reson they checked fluid levels with ds3 as he was a tad smaller than my other two but all was cleared no kidney or bladder problems he was passing urine normally as they kept an eye when he was born to see what when and how much was passed.)
I cannot give birth naturally so was careful of each niggle etc as can go into labour from the extra amount of fluid I always had niggles and sometimes random contraction but ds3 stayed put until his scheduled date.
I was strapped to a machine a few days before ds3's arrival as with extra fluid I couldnt feel all his movements and contractions now and then Would be picked up, I think they said i had a grumbly uterus and if they intensified or became regular then to pop down to be checked otherwise just to keep doing what I did normally.
I have 3 healthy children, I just looked like I swallowed a huge beach ball carrying them lol.

They are seeing me first thing in the morning and will have to have an ultrasound. Think they are just concerned about how quickly the levels jumped up, scan might show that is still at 24 or it may have dropped, won't know till tomorrow but as usual I jump on here for any advice...lol
I'm sure it's all ok but googling it hasn't helped! All my ultrasounds have shown bladder, stomach, bowel to be fine so I shouldn't worry too much!!

Google is certainly not a good thing, I had myself convinced something awful was wrong!
They'll check and note down movement and also breathing reflexes, swallowing maybe?
They measured ds3, he was not far off their estimate weight and height just a bit under. My ob just put it as getting more sneaky looks at bub as each appt for scheduled c/s and even with ob they would do a quick scan. Polyhydramios doesn't occur until usually the third trimester the fluid continues to rise.
My sisters dd was showing a slight kidney problem which she outgrew, alot of bubs can be born with one kidney slighty abnormal and it corrects itself. I think by 3 months it had disappeared when her dd went for an u/s to check how things were.
