Ok DS is 3.5 years now and a very sensitive boy.
But he never stops. he literally wakes up playing, jumping, climbing, singing, talking and counting.. omg counting excessively.
he counts everything need to touch everything.
he will lay in bed for up to an hour just counting objects only he can see over and over.
He literally does not stop with the energy.
the only things that calms him down is twirling my hair and that is only for a few seconds.
is this normal?
will it calm down?
:hug: not sure Hun but my DD1 3yrs never stops either. She is incredibly energetic and has to be busy all the time.
I think she's a typical 3yr old though so not worried.
I think 3yr olds just have an incredible amount of energy and it can be sooo tiring!!
It'd be normal if he lived here. For ages I've wanted to post a similar thread.
lol he used to be quite violent when he was 2 - would hit, bite, kick throw and we started to cut out artificial colours and preservatives (mostly suphlur) which helps with that behaviour but he literally doesnt stop for more than 5 seconds!! i am exhausted watchign him:
and when his sister is home they fight NON stop... NON stop!
Exactly the same here x2. My 3 and 5 year old just don't stop!! I have no idea where they get their energy from

plus he's a runner. I have to keep my front door key locked, and trips out are a nightmare.

oh no! isnt it hard in public!
i have to take hime everywhere even to dd's interview for school and he is uncontrollable.
i feel frowned upon and out of my depth!
i want to help out in class or do stalls at the fete with him but i feel sick in the stomach knowing his energy and i wont be able to do it :(
I just posted a similar thread about my 2 year old (because you reminded me lol).
He never stops. And like you just said he is completely uncontrollable.
When he's bored (or even just when he feels like it) at home, or anywhere else really, he runs "laps" around anything he can find. Tables, chairs, imaginary objects. He Never. Ever. Stops.
I think if you're concerned about something then it's worth getting it checked out, I'm not sure counting everything is entirely normal.
How long has he been counting for? Might pay to see someone JIK as counting can be linked to OCD and anxiety( I do it too. ). :hug: May just be a little phase but if it's excessive as you say ( an hr seems a long time) it sounds like he might have a pattern he has to complete each night then seeking someone might help. xoxox
the counting i noticed about 4 months ago.
he does it at many time, if i ask him to be quiet (ie phone or talking to someone) he starts counting invisible what evers - he points to the air when he counts.
he counts at bed time, and randomly at things in the day.
I couldnt get him asleep until 11pm last night just go go go !
