Should I feel guilty taking only one child out to lunch?

Tomorrow DH, DD & I are going around looking at schools during open days for DD next year (eeekkk!!! but that's a whole different topic, LOL!). It is going to take our whole morning so we have organised for the two boys to spend the morning with their grandparents.
We were thinking of taking DD out to lunch & talking about the schools & just giving her some time with us because she is really missing out on one on one time.

Is it ok to only take one out for lunch? I'm feeling guilty that I'm leaving the boys out.

What do you think?

Go & enjoy the time with just 3 of you! Don't feel bad, I think it's a great idea to have some special time & I'm sure she'll love it!
I took M out the other week for some cake & a "coffee" while O was at kinder. She had a ball & it was great to have some special time just with her. DS knows about it but he's looking forward to having a "coffee" just with Mummy one day very soon!

I'm rambling now but the boys will be fine, so go & enjoy the time! Xx

Don't feel guilty at all. One on one time is good for kids.

I love the time I get with my toddler as I miss him heaps. It used to be just him and I when I was on mat leave and now I mainly look after the baby so I miss him.

I love my one on one time with my baby as I sometimes wonder if he missed out on so much because he never got as much when he was little. And he's so much fun to play with!

I think it's healthy for children to do things away from their siblings from time to time as long as its balanced.

My dad and I used to have regular Thursday nights out without my mum and brothers, neither parent did that with them at all :) I think one lunch will be okay ;)

I try and give my kids all some one on one time, we do whatever they want to do. Enjoy your day with your dd!

I'm one of four. Mum used to rotate taking each of us out one on one. It may have shopping or whatever and we'd have lunch or afternoon tea, just the 2 of us. It was great.

Another one who says don't feel guilty.

I try and give my boys some one on one time occasionally. Sometimes its a matter of appointments or different intersts but I think of it as a special time where they have my undivided attention and can talk to me. I know that the other boys will get tere turn also.

On school holidays I often put DD2 into CC while I take DD1 out for the day for some Mummy & big girl time - she thinks it is the best thing! I say go for it!

No way! I think it's a wonderful idea. She will love the one-on-one time!!!

I had coffee and cake with my little girl who is 3yrs just the other day. First time since DD2 was born and she LOVED having mummy to herself again!! I sometimes just take her with me to get the groceries too :) it's a great bonding time for Dh and DD2.

I think its a great idea. You can make it a really special day for Miss O - such a big girl thing to go and look at schools and then have lunch with Mum and Dad.

FWIW, I will take E out for morning tea somewhere on her non-kindy days when I is at school. I will then sometimes pick I up on E's non-kindy days and she and I will go straight from school for afternoon tea. I think its really important to have one on one time with them - the dynamics certainly change when they're both there.

Just need to work out how I'm going to get that one on one time on a regular basis when #3 is here!

What a great idea! Such a special time for your DD and you can all look and get a feel for the schools without distraction from the boys.

i think it's a lovely idea. i used to work with someone who used to have 'dates' with her bigget boy & go for dinner etc when her youngest son was still little. i always planned to do something similar :)
