How much of Mothers Day do you do?

As in the prep for it, Do you buy your own gift? Prepare the food?

Pre kids my DH was awesome at gifts, i always loved what he got me, but these days he is out of the house 6am till 7pm and i want him to spend time with the kids not shopping online for stuff for me. So I buy my own gifts, have done Mothers day, Birthday and Christmas for a few years.
It would b nice to not know whats in a gift once in a while though...

I'll gather the stuff for the girls to make me a card and pop out for a bit on Saturday s he can supervise that..

So do you prep it all?

I used to. But now DD is older and loves to celebrate things, she starts nagging DH early to do it. So they spent an entire day together on the weekend Birthday shopping. And will go out this Sat to organise something.

I've told my family though that all I want for Mother's Day is a home made card and breakfast in bed!

we dont really do anything for me
i will get photos and cards for the women in my life (mums grandmas etc).
but usually nothing is organised for me - DD is doing something at school i think - its a secret though

I would love it if my family would do something special for me but we always end up doing the mothers day thing for my mum.

We don't really make a big deal out of mothers day, normally DP will rush off and get something at the last minute (no big deal) or we all go together and i get to pick something that i like (2yrs ago got a gorgeous pair or earrings i picked)
For the actual day we normally have the morning at home then go and see DP's mum & nan for lunch - my mum is interstate and stepmum is 2hrs away then we normally do something like go for a drive or the beach etc at night just DP the kids & I.
This year it's lunch at his mums then maybe visiting his nan in the home then not sure... don't think he's got a gift yet but DD is at 3yr old kinder and were having a 'special friends' morning tea tomorrow so we get a card they are making etc there which will be very cute.

I just realised its my day at work for the month! :lol:

I expect that DP will let me have a sleep in and then he will make me breakfast with the girls and bring it in to me in bed. The girls make cards for me and DD1 now wants to buy me a present or make me something so she will nag DP (as opposed to last year when I got nothing and was furious!)

The rest of the day is all about my mum so we go to her place for lunch and give her gifts.

Nothing! DH is pretty good at sorting stuff out - kids are older now so they get excited about making things for me!! DD thought it was on Monday because we had a special night at kinder :rofl: This year I will be up and at 'em early because I am doing the MDC so will be expecting pampering when I get home!! We don't usually do much though, sleep in and last year I think we went to the movies and saw Bob the Builder :rofl: Happy to just hang with my peeps!

I ususally tell DF what I want or they go out and get something last minute ( as always) the boys make something secret at school that they are excited about and will make a card at home! this year I splashed out and they have brought me a breville cake mixer! Im so lucky hahaha.
This year my oldest had been milking and has saved himself money to buy a buggy so they all organised to go and pick it up on sunday! so this year it will be a all boys day I think. he deserves it, hes worked hard so i dont mind too much.

I don't really do any prep! The only thing I do is organise a small gift for the other women in our lives (my mum, MIL, grandma etc) and I always get them photos of the kids or some other personalised small gift.
Now that the kids are a bit older they love to make cards and there is a kinder afternoon tea today for the mums which I'm sure will be gorgeous (according to DD I'm getting something very special lol!).

This year we are having DD's family birthday party on Sat night so I think we'll just chill on Sunday! I try to make it less about the gifts and more about spending time together. Honestly I'm happy with a card and a 'I love you' (oh and a yummy breaky doesn't go astray lol!)

Just want to clarify.. Its not about the gift for me as its about someone else thinking about it.. If that makes sense?

I'm really lucky in that while I don't believe in the commercialisation of days like MD, my DH goes all out with the kids to make it special for me. He took the girls shopping yesterday for "silly presents" - called this because the girls are making my good and "proper" presents at kindy and pre-primary. I usually keep him up to date throughout the year with a list of new books I would like so that is pretty much what I expect him to buy on MD, which is great. He has organised for us to go out for breakfast with friends to our fantastic local which has a kids club on Sunday mornings so we can really relax and enjoy a yummy breakfast while all the kids run backwards and forwards between us and the fun.

I have organised a present for my Mum and the girls will make her a card tomorrow or Saturday, but otherwise nothing for me to do.

I signed the form and sent money into school so the boys can get something at the Mother's Day stawell. DD came home with a card from Family Day Care and DS2 made something in After School Care and told me it was for Dad, when DS1 read what was on the back it said "Happy Mother's Day", DS2 explained that it's for Dad and the after school person wrote that on and that I can share it :lol:

I shopped up big a couple of weeks ago on me, DH is asking what I would like and I tell him that my shop was it :)
My DH is pretty good, he does most of the cooking on weekends anyway, we have his family coming up here on Sunday and he is cooking up a storm for us.

I will see my Mum on Saturday for afternoon tea at my Sister's I think.

Just hoping to relax a little really, pretty much like most other weekends.

I dont do any prep. Although this year I brought some nice earrings and necklace for myself and told dh he could count that as my mothers day pressie. But i know he went and got something this morning because I wasnt allowed to look in the boot according to DD2. :lol:

Im actually not so sure what to expect this year tho. Normally I dont get much, we dont make much of the day. But i have a feeling this year will be different. :)

Going to kinder with my kids tomorrow for afternoon tea and they have all made something during the week. Dd1 has hidden hers away and is so excited! On Sunday we are going to go hang out at the local pool and have fun splashing about. I was separated from my girls last year because my mum decided to *****y and I hated it,so this year doing what I want. Dh hasn't had time to take them shopping but I am not upset if they don't get me anything but the girls have asked to go get something.

DH asked what I wanted and I told him gumboots, fairly sure that is what him & DD bought. I know DD will be making stuff at creche and kinder & I am happy with that. Mum organised lunch this year, she wanted to go to the Clematis Hotel so she booked it herself. I felt kind of bad but I am a mum too & my two siblings couldn't be bothered organising anything.....

No real prep here. Just rely on what the girls will make at school/childcare and what is bought at the school's mothers day stall.
I did ask DH though if he was going with the girls to buy something. Really just from a budget point of view, did he need money and also to not waste it on something I would not like/use (would rather have no gift as we are on a tight budget).
