Just something else I suppose I will have to get used to. Yay for Mother's Day!

So I gave DD1 money for the Mother's Day stall today at school. :shakehead:
D is away for work, so obviously can't be here to organise something with the girls for me...But still felt rather **** having to give her the money to buy me something. I almost didn't do it, but she already knew the stall was on and I didn't want her to feel left out if she couldn't go over with her class and get something.

I suppose though this is something else I have to get used to - planning my own gifts or not getting anything at all.

I did give her $20 so it better be something nice :p;) (<---- See that there? See how I deflected that oppressive feeling of loneliness and suffocating emptiness there with humour? Good huh...getting lots of practice with that.)

When I was a single mum, my single mum best friend who lived 500kms away from me would buy me a present and I would buy one for her. It was the perfect arrangement :)

That sucks LimeSlice. My SIL is discovering this too. She busts a gut getting her kids to arrange gifts, celebrations for their father but he doesn't reciprocate.

When I was a single parent, my brother actually got me a present aww! Hope you are pleasantly surprised by someone around you :hug:

My sister gets a little something with my kids for me for my birthday, mother's day, christmas, etc. Helps them choose a little something and DS1 makes things at school too.

This year (it's my 3rd mother's day while seperated) I decided to buy myself a little something for mother's day. New pjs! Hehehe. (Also I just paid preschool fees for my youngest so I say that's a little gift for me cause that's a childfree day per week. Lol)
On sunday we're probably going to go have fish and chips at the beach or something together, just me and my two munchkins. Just have a fun day together laughing and playing. Fingers crossed for nice weather!

The first one was the hardest for me. I'm sorry.

LS, I always gave the girls money to buy me something from the school stall for Mothers Day. It never occurred to DH to give them money or for them to ask him.

My attitude was give them the money and hope they bought something decent and not tell me what they bought :)

I have DH and still gave DD money for the Mothers Day stall and also went and bought something for myself lol ....so please don't feel bad LS, have a beautiful day with your kids...they're the best Mummy's Day present. DH is away for work at the mo, so will see how breakfast pans out...must remember to make sure the smoke alarms are all working.

That's tough. My DD's father has never got me anything from her (mothers day birthday Xmas etc) but I always let her buy him something. This year he wouldn't even swap weekends so my mothers day is child free (and on bed rest after a scare last night)

Just savour the time with your Lo's and don't think you have them money but you enabled them to pick something creative to show their love for you :)
