DD ready for TT but not quite getting it - advice please :)

My daughter is not quite 2 yet (she will be at the end of July) so I have no high expectations from her in regards to toilet training. The thing is she really seems to WANT to be toilet trained, she just isn't quite getting the hang of it.

Every day she will tell me "poop" and want to sit on her potty, and every day we sit there with books until she gets bored and tells me "all done" without making any deposits of any type in the potty. Now this would not be a big deal at all, she is still young, except for 2 things.

1. After I put the diaper back on her, she will run off to play. She will then (usually while I am distracted with her brother) finally poop in the diaper, return to the the bathroom, remove all her clothes (from head to toe) including the poopy diaper, attempt to empty her poopy diaper into the toilet (thus smearing poop all over the toilet), and put said diaper open in the garbage (thus smearing poop all over the garbage can lid). Then she will sit on her little potty (this smearing poop all over the potty seat) and call to me proudly "poop, poop" at which point I have to clean her, the potty, the toilet, the garbage, and the floor. A lot of work on a daily basis.

2. Again when I am distracted, she will run off and hide, remove her clothes and diaper, and pee all over the floor (usually all over a toy or book in the process as well), and then bring me her clean diaper to put back on. Again a lot of work when it happens every day.

She knows what the potty is and what it is for (and she likes to tell you), she loves to sit on it and will stay there for quite awhile if you are reading to her, she cheers for anyone who does use the potty, but she just can't seem to get anything done on it herself. She seems to want to use it and I would really like her to as I am really tired of cleaning up, but I don't know what to do to help her make that final connection that she seems to be missing.

Oh we did manage to have one successful poop on the potty but it was only cuz I happened to be changing her clothes when she started making a "poo face" and the potty was right behind her so I popped her on it and she protested a bit but kept pooping. She was kind of horrified though when she saw the poop in the potty, though she was really excited to help me flush it away. No further success since.

I did show her some tiny cute panties and let her try them on and she seemed excited about that too but after 10 minutes asked me to put her diaper back on. WE have too much carpet in our house for me to let her wet them. I need it to warm up a bit so she can wear them outside in the grass and save me from cleaning up wet carpets. Thankfully it is almost summer here but in the mean time I am tired of cleaning up a poopy bathroom.

My son was easy and potty trained by 2 so this is new to us :(

We have lots of carpet too, not so handy for TT. tHE last couple of mornings my dd has wee ed in the kitchen after our shower before i got her dressed. she has then yelled 'uh on poos' (still learning difference bw wees and poos) Today i have set the potty in the kitchen so hopefully shewill go on the potty or i can catch her about to go and suggest she sits.

Trying to keep my eyes on her (without her realising) so i can try to give her a success soon before weeing on the floor becomes a habit.

Does she go and hide in 1 particular place? If so can you put the potty there for her and tell her if she needs to go to go in there?
We have lots of carpet too but we have setup a potty in the kitchen & in the lounge, DD will run around naked all day if she could (is that an option for at home) and seems to be going quite well with toilet training, it's when she has knickers on she's not 100% sure but she's getting there.

She doesn't have one place she hides, she just goes wherever she is, and with her able to remove her clothes it is tough. I have been trying to put overalls and onesies on her but we don't have too many and I find them a pain as well when changing and slow to get off if she makes a poo face and I try to rush her to the loo.

Have you looked at the 3 day potty training method? I'd say get rid of the nappy. If she's like my son, she'll poo in her undies, but that's a lot less comfy to wear! But it's pretty intensive for a week or so (my son was 3 days for wee, but a few weeks for poo). Otherwise, you could always try a reward chart - do you think she'd understand?

I don't know if she would understand a reward chart but I can try. I will have to google the 3 day potty training method and see if we can try it. Thanks :)
