So with my mum passing and now looking like my nan I have inherited a seeing machine and over locker.
Where do I start with learning to sew? I was never allowed to do home economics being from a single parent and it costing too much.
Thanks

Check out adult ed, they may have some basic sewing courses. Some sewing centres have them as well. Otherwise grab a friend who can sew and start on something basic like a cushion cover or library bag.
Good luck.
Thank u
Will you have the manuals? Handy to have, I still often refer to mine. Otherwise websites can be pretty good for things like how to sew in a zip. Your first hurdle will be how to thread the machine.
I only did the basics in home ec, sewed a doll, an apron and a top. After that I just got simple patterns and followed them. You could also look for a learn to sew books.
Knowing my nan yes mum not so much
there are several books you can buy which go thru the basics of sewing. readers digest have a good one.
otherwise there is an awesome community on fb called The Sewing Library. there are various different skill levels on there and we all ask questions and help each other out! The haby goddess also has a sewing school which is online and at your own pace. costs around $30 i think from memory. you tube is awesome too!
good luck
Defo join TSL!
I think I joined it. WMM can u check
Oh sorry babe just seen this.
I'm not a member of TSL at the moment
You can also take courses through distance ed. On a payment plan.
Sent from HTC wildfire using TAPATALK, so forgive any spelling errors its a small keyboard.
Kids pants are great to start with. They don't use that much material, are pretty simple if you have a pattern and you can funk them up with pockets, cuffs or different coloured/textured materials. Also teach you to sew straight and curved edges.
Have you made anything yet?
I haven't even looked at it. Hurts too much :(
I bought some mint colored fleece to make a cushion for my rocking chair but I'm lost soooooo lost
oh hun.
I'm pretty sure spotlight do classes. I'm sorry to hear of your loss :(
