DD1 was in hospital again

DD1 txt me last Sunday to say that she needed help and wanted to go to the hospital. Turns out she hadn't eaten for 5 days and then when she did try to eat she was just throwing every thing back up.

I had to rearrange what we were doing (DS1 birthday) and take her to hospital. They admitted her as we thought and put in a naso-gastric feeding tube again. She was still throwing up though whenever she tried to eat normal food. It took a couple of days for her tummy to stretch out again and she could start eating as well.

Well she got discharged on Friday and went back to her place but I'm so worried that she won't eat or look after herself properly. It is so hard to let go and let her try when clearly she is not doing such a good job.

She won't come back home and while she is living in a refuge, they make them take care of themselves so they won't be looking out for her the way I used to.

Sorry for the "poor me" aspect of this but I'm really struggling emotionally with all this

Don't apologise, Mental illness is tough on the person as well as the family involved. Can you check up on her a few times during the week, take her something to eat?

Is she seeing a counsellor regulary?

yes she is seeing a counsellor but she has been through the system for so long that she knows what they want to hear. Any sort of emotional problem will set off her eating disorder. At least this time she actually asked me for help

I can totally understand. My sister lived through the exact same thing. It was terribly hard on my mum, who desperately wanted her back with her. The fact that she called you when she was in crisis was a good thing. She must know that you are there whenever she needs or she wouldn't have called.

I think praising her for having the strength to seek help is a good idea. For her to do that, is awesome, and nothing shy of. Little, tiny, baby steps aimed in the forward-flowing direction, that take time and courage, will see your DD's journey fare well in time. She, temporarily, removed herself from danger. What a strong woman she is.
You should both be proud of each other. xx :pray:

I don't know anything of your DD situation but the fact she asked YOU for help, says heaps. I hope she is ok

Thank you all for your replies. DD has gone home to the refuge and the only time I hear from her is when she wants something :wall: I'm not sure if she is eating well or slipping back into her bad habits - oh well only time will tell.

As long as she knows she can call me and I'll respond means that hopefully she will do it again if needed itms lol.
