Under 5 yrs and UTI's

So DD1 (4 in august) has a pretty bad uti. Thought nothing of the constant toilet trips, put it down to it being cold and her thinking she needed to go. That was until she was crying in pain from the pains in her tummy.
Took her to the dr today who did the unrine test (3 attempts to get engough for her to test). Infection there. She has also referred us for an ultrasound of the kidneys to make sure there is nothing else happening. Apparent uti's in kids this young can indicate other problems??

I have been giving her a hot water bottle to put on her tummy, getting her to have lots of water and some panadol. I'm going to get some cranberry jucie tomorrow.
Is there anything else I can/should do for her? She has started in AB's too.

aww poor poss
give her some ural- works a treat - will stop the stinging
the hospital perscribed ural to my DD at 2 years old.
Yup they like to u/sound kids to make sure no kidney issues or reflux in the kidneys
often these infections happen from wiping accidents if that makes sense
make sure she wipes the right way
also make sure she is not constipated as well as a full bowel can put pressure on her bladder

my DS has suffered chronic UTI's from birth and they are horrible- he gets between 5-10 a year now.
hydration is also very important!!
yell out if you want anymore help
and btw a heat pack was a good idea !!

According to her when i ask, there is no sting, hence why i didn't really think UTI. Shes pretty good with wiping, but who knows, i'm sure there are times shes wiped the wrong way... will keep an eye on it.
We are going on holidays tomorrow poor thing, i hope the abs kick in so she can enjoy herself.
