As the title suggests, is bacroban an antibiotic cream/oint??
I have a tube from a couple of months ago but can't remember if it was an anitbiotic cream. I have this infection thing on my face and right now is driving me insane. I am going to go to the dr tomorrow because i can't stand it any longer, but thought i might try something on it tonight it see if i can reduce the irritation.
I've had ice trying to reduce redness and inflammatoin but bot doing much.
yep. It's an antibiotic ointment. We use it a lot for treatment of boils and other random tropical infections. I'd probably go to the drs to get whatever it is checked just incase its something other than a bacterial infection. :-)
Yes, it is a prescription only cream or ointment for infections (I find the ointment works better). It is fantastic at clearing up an infection (i have used it on many body parts), so I would put it on (cover over the top if you need to), and you might not need to go to the dr tomorrow
i have the oint here...going to put it oin i think with a cover so i stop trying to scratch it
Yep. We use it for everything too. It's 1000 times better than antibacterial cream like dettol.

My Pharmacist told me to be careful with it like all antibiotics you can become immune to it do to speak.
Jungle mum I have found the best thing for boils is to put a dollop of castor oil on with a bandaid over the top to draw it out and once the gunk is out then put Betadine antiseptic on with a bandaid to kill off any nasties in there ( as told by a naturopath). Boils need your body to fight them off so the less antibiotics the better.
It is a steroid cream with an anti fungal and antibiotic in it.
That's because it is an antibiotic and not an antiseptic like dettol.:

Yes, it has nystatin (anti fungal), neomycin (antibiotic), and a corticosteroid.

Dannim i usually use that old school thick cream.... ummm...... what's it called........ really goopy, a drawing cream...
We actually don't use the bactroban on the boil, but rather up the nostrils! My DD was having recurrent boils, we were drawing and treating them as you describe but they kept coming back. A local dr suggested putting the bactroban up her nostrils and it fixed it. Apparently the staph thrives there?
Sorry sunshine i don't know what kenacomb is. But google tells me it's an antibacterial and anti inflammatory AND an anti fungal, a real all rounder apparently?! :o

DD had a staph infection for almost two years....Boils, styes, calesians, school sores, infected mosquito bites, infected scratches.......I know both bactroban and magna plasm well :lol:
Honey can replace magnoplasm too ;)
I used to always have bactroban on hand, but its all gone missing. There's always some sort of infection in this house :rolleyes:
