Advertising for jobs

We have a cleaning business and we need more staff.

Where should I place the ad? Just looked on seek and it's $230 to place an ad.

That's a lot of money for a small business.

Will it be worth it? Any other suggestions?

Do you have a local Facebook notice board? It's free and you can weed out a few people with questions over Facebook for interviews...

DP recently popped an add on gumtree, it's free & we had 4 emails & multiple phone calls in 1 day.

Seek is good.
Be prepared for people not reading the advert properly, not being valid workers ie no working visas etc.
I used to do our job posting at my old job, and now being on the other end of that I always use seek.

We used to use seek at work and would get 100's of emails. We liked it because we wouldn't put the company name down or the phone number, so we could weed out the legit applicants without being bombarded by phone calls. We would end up with around 5-10 people worth interviewing. Prior to using seek, we'd tried the Age and the local papers, neither pulling a decent response and requiring further money spent on another ad elsewhere.

Suppose seek is the next best option :)

Seek or fb are where we found our staff, mostly through seek but last time dh ran an ad on fb on the side banner thing, it targeted people in Melbourne in a certain age bracket, he had about 8 people come to a group interview and ended up hiring one of them.

definately try gum tree- we get staff for our coffee van from there
also try local TAFES, universities- they often have job notice boards
Also try local community centres,
there are also job clubs such as employment plus (run by the salvation army) which dont charge a fee
i wouldnt do seek- too much money and it wouldnt be where i would look for a cleaning job!
