The Blessing
A blessing shines itself unto us
From within the darkness that was left
What was taken will not be forgotten
For the blessing won’t allow us to forget
The blessing like the lotus
Emerged from deep beneath the mud
Like a phoenix who rises from the ashes
The blessing came to us after the flood
The flood came in a flash
It followed the steady rain
Took a part of all of us
Showed us our inner strength
But we see the worth of the water
For it brought us the Dragonfly
He flies ever so closely
Watching us through guardian eyes
Through his watchful eyes
The Dragonfly could see
A thick blanket of mud
Layered on us in grief
After the storm had passed
A Rainbow covered the sky
Light rain fell in silence
Burying a seed deep inside
The seed it bloomed ever so quietly
As the Dragonfly secretly smiled
For he had sent us the blessing
As a gift to remember him by
