hi! i just lost a pregnancy at 10 weeks and am devastated... am looking for hopeful stories... i suspect it was a blighted ovum but i still have to confirm that with ob/gyn. has anybody had a blighted ovum? how long did it take for your system to get back to normal? how long did it take for you to conceive again? sorry for so many questions but i need answers.... just to move on and start trying again

Oh huni that's devastating. I've had two losses and within two months of the loss and the first month trying I have fallen again and carried a healthy bub to term.

In 2008 I had a missed miscarriage for which I needed a D&C. My cycles returned after 5 weeks. I conceived my first DD 7 months later and she is now a healthy 2.5 year old. I also have a second DD born in January. I hope this gives you hope.
Be kind to yourself at this time. Allow yourself to grieve your loss. I'm sure your earth bubba well be in your arms before you know it.

Hi there, first off I am so sorry for your loss :hug:
It sounds like you are going through what I went through - no inclination that anything was wrong until almost 11 weeks. I was devastated.
It was a blighted ovum too. I had light spotting, went into emergency, spotting stopped, but ultrasound confirmed no embryo. I had to have a D&C the next day, by which time I'd started bleeding heavily.
I was told to wait one full cycle before trying again. I got my period back right on 28 days, two weeks after that we tried again and were successful. Received our BFP end of Jan and I'm now 26 weeks with this little blessing.
It is so tough - I had no idea anything was wrong and after 2 successful pregnancies and two gorgeous kids so I had no reason to even worry. It hit me really hard and I was a real mess for a while.
Give yourself time to process everything. It is a lot to take in.

I am Soo sorry for your loss. Its an awful feeling so be pregnant one day and not the next....the emptiness is painful.
I miscarriaged at 10 weeks also. I needed to have a d & c. My periods returned straight away and I feel pregnant 3 months later. I now have 2 beautiful girls.
You have a sad time ahead but the pain will ease. People who have experienced a miscarriage understand how difficult it can be....we are here for you :hug:

ineedpixiedust, I'm so sorry to hear about your devastating loss. Blighted ovums are cruel :(
I've had two. I miscarried one at 9 weeks, got AF 34 days later (so only slightly longer cycle than normal) and got pregnant again the following cycle. Miscarried the next one at 7 weeks and got AF 32 days later.
Please don't be scared by the fact it happened again, blighted ovums are usually a one off thing. I had a very short luteal phase and we think it was low progesterone that caused them in my case. I'm now 19 weeks pregnant and things are looking good after using progesterone pessaries with this one.
Look after yourself for now :hug: When you do decide to try again, the only advice I have is to make sure you have an understanding doctor who will let you have an early scan and do whatever tests you need to reassure yourself. It will be scary, but worth it ;)
dear all.... i am really really really comforted with your msgs... all of them.... when i'm in the lowest of the dumps i'll go through and read again... they are the best words i have read so far since it has happened... at least there is hope even when every dream is shattered.

I had a d&c a week ago, due to my second blighted ovum in a row in 6 mths. I didn't have any indication this time. First time my symptoms dropped off and I had a bit of bleeding. I was 11weeks when I had the d&c, this time I was 8 weeks. I waited 3 cycles, before TTC after first one, changed vitamins both DH and I, other than that nothing different. I was more worried about not falling pregnant, but we managed that without really trying.
My cycles went back to normal, after a 1 day bleed at about day 10 after d&c.
Sadly they (Dr's, Fertility Specialists and the likes) don't exactly know why and what's causes them. For me, the OB that saw us last week is going to be requesting testing as she feels it's something genetic that isn't happening. She explained she will request for us some further testing, although the normal process is 3 losses. She said she hasn't come across 2 in a row, healthy patients, so that's why she herself wants some answers. We'll see though, as I'm half expecting to be told to wait till three or to try again. I'm happy to prove my point as my instinct tells me it's something genetic.
My GP thinks I may have a hyperthyroid and this can be related, BUT the OB who performed my d&c, thinks its quite normal for thyroid to rise when conceiving. So at this stage I have no idea!
I just feel soo ripped off, in that a pregnancy should be exciting and now I dread the thought of having to go for another early scan. I related with DiamondGirl here, I think she didn't go for her scan until 11 weeks (please advise other wise) and keeps expecting the worst.

I had been TTCing for 12+ months when I had a loss at 12 weeks in 2008. Not a blighted ovum though, my bub just passed away. After a D&C my cycle went back to normal and I fell with DS on the second cycle.
There are lots of people who don't understand. Don't allow them to minimise you feelings. Grieve as you need to.
