Scones...How do you do it?
I just made a batch of scones. And I luuurve scones! They never taste like my mum's but that is another thread! ;)
It occurred to me, as I was cutting them, that I cut them in circles, just as my mum did. And that I place them on the tray all next to each other and touching, like my mum did.
TBH, I didn't realise there was any other way to make them until I left home! :o
DH's mum makes square scones. A travesty, if you ask me :p and he had never had round ones until I made them for him.
So it got me thinking, how do you do it, and why?
Square or round?
Touching or spread apart?

Apparently touching makes them rise together.
Lemonade helps the self raising flour rise.
I personally make them round, I fold in the dry to the wet ingredients and the butter always salted at room temp.
And brush with warm milk before cooking to make them golden.
Served warm with raspberry jam and double whipped cream! And English breakfast tea!
