Premature ovarian failure and PCOS !

Hi All,
I've just joined Belly Belly and this is my first post :)
I have started my second round of IVF today. My first round I took 75iu puregon and this round it has increased to 250iu.
I have pcos AND premature ovarian failure(POF). I know that with pcos I need to be careful that I don't overstimulate however, with POF, I have read that a high level of puregon is required in order to produce the eggs so I am wondering how we will ever get the levels right.
Has anyone else here experienced the same two problems and gone on to conceive through IVF?
I think my body is trying to trick me - it gave me loads of eggs through pcos but took them away with POF ;)
I would live to hear from someone in a similar situation.
In any case, best of luck to all us going through IVF - it really is emotionally traumatic!

Hi Larry sorry to hear your news and of your struggle. What test did you have done to diagnose POF? Was it day 2 FSH level or AMH? I personally have a high FSH of 14 indicating POF but have PCOS tendencies so on the right dose of stims I would still get a decent number of follies and eggs ie 15-20. Assuming your first cycle on FSH 75 didn't get you must response hence why they have upped the dose? FYI I only got 2-3 follies on this dose but hyperstimmed on 225. My perfect level is about 125 but it is a bit of guess work sometimes to get there. Hope they can find the right dose for you. And don't get disheartened as you never know how your body will respond until you do the cycle. Best of luck xx

Hi Baby Dreamtime,
I had an AMH blood test and I got a level of 8.5 when it should be over 14 at least.
On 75iu I got lots of little follicles, probably 23 in total, but only 3 were the correct size. When I went in for egg collection no eggs were found. I feel nervous that I will over stimulate and then we cannot proceed. The least that I want from this cycle is for the doc to find good quality eggs even if it doesn't end in pregnancy. That will at least give me hope for the future.
I am taking DHEA for egg quality and going to an acupuncturist (I have defo noticed an improvement in my period pain if nothing else)
I will keep you updated and hopefully with good news :)

I don't know my AHM level - although the FS told me at the last appointment I am a little bit lower than I should be. My first stim cycle I started at 125iu - but I am on 250 at the moment - my first ultra sound tomorrow, so FX there is a nice bunch of follies there for me.

I guess I am lucky that I usually get a reasonable haul of eggs. Last stim I had three embies - on a Down Regulation protocol - my first stim was an antagonist, and that wasn't as good - just had one fresh, but there was nothing left to freeze. This time i have done Down Reg again, so hopefully things will be okay.
I am also taking part in the Acupuncture research at my clinic - and had my first session today.

I hope you did well at your scan and got loads of follicles!!
I will defo check out that link - all information and support is good!
I got lots of follicles showing at the first scan and I'm due to go back in on Wednesday morning - Doc says that I'll probably be going for the collection on Friday which is so quick.

I am so excited - 22 eggs retrieved today from the egg collection!!!
I'm hoping and praying that these all survive the next 5 days as I don't want to lose any!
What a difference 2 months makes - I had no hope after my last IVF cycle and now I just can't believe it....!
I am sure that doing acupuncture has helped me get to this point!
I shall keep you updated on the progress.

Wow! Great numbers larry!!

I got 9 eggs. 6 fertilized but only two good embie. I have one inside me and the other they have tto check if it's okay to freeze.... So we will find that out next week.

Wow Larry great numbers. I can only hope my next cycle brings numbers that good as I am on a similar predicament as you.

I have only found out with last ivf cycle that I have very low ovarian reserves amh 1.7 and pco on right side so. I to an on DHEA and metformin , we will see next month when we do another cycle if it helped.
