Birthday Pary Craft Activities

DD1 is turning 6 in October and I am starting to think about organising her party

This year I will be doing it at our house and plan on having an afternoon tea, music and dancing, pass the parcel and a craft activity.

Im not sure what to do for the craft activity and DD1 has a number of friends who are little boys that I think she may want to invite. Unfortunately a lot of the activity ideas I have seen have been aimed at girls (IMO) like fairy wand decorating, making necklaces with beads.DD1 is a very outdoorsy kid

so I love the idea of kids decorating a small plastic plant pot then getting to pot a small plant in it and take it home. If we do this I was going to put a note on the invite to dress in gardening clothes so they dont ruin their best outfits. I think my DD will want to dress up though which might rule this out

I have also thought about making some cupcakes for the kids to decorate themselves (thought about making their own Pizza but my DD isnt a huge fan of homemade pizzas.)

So any other activity/crafty ideas out there for a six year olds birthday? (I dont want to do paint if I can avoid it but glue is ok ;))

You could do the pot plant thing, just use paint smock's if they don't want their clothing getting dirty.

DS isn't really a crafty kid, other than paint so no real ideas on that front..

Perhaps getting a heap of plain t-shirts and letting them decorate their own shirts with fabric paint.

What about get some plaster ornaments for them all to paint.

Pot plant idea is good and as allready suggested just use ark smocks.

Could make choclates

Could do wand decorating but get boys some differnt wands that are not fairy like.

Could decorate some small boxes to keep what ever they want in (Riot art sell some small cute boxes that can be drawn on and stuck on)

thanks guys have been googling and found you can buy cheap disposable kids aprons :) so Im now thinking plaster painting might be an option (found a place that has 90 pieces plaster, paint, glitter and brushes for $80!!!) And DD had a ball doing plaster painting in the school holidays so I think she will like the idea. Just need to borrow trestle tables from the grandparents and some disposable table cloths

ETA we did the pot planting thing for free at bunnings one day and the kids loved it but were filthy after planting their flowers, maybe my kids are grubs :lol:

The cheapest disposable art smocks ever? Big black garbage bags, with holes for the head and arms :lol: No advice on the activities, but it sounds like an awesome party in the making. I love crafts!

I bought a stack of white tshirts and some packs of fabric textas and just let them go for it. They loved it!
