Urination Issues
Sorry if TIMI but I have been having a weird sensation when urinating over the last 4 or 5 days. When I wee I can't feel it coming out. Its like I'm numb or the passage is too wide or something. I have a strong urge to go and feel as though I am going to burst but once I sit down it just trickles out slowly and there isn't really any 'relief' sensation.
It had crossed my mind that maybe my waters had broke or something but I have had no leaking or anything when not on the toilet and have pretty good pelvic floor muscles(for someone 33 wks pregnant with 5th baby :)
Has anyone else felt like this before? It is a bizarre feeling to go to the toilet and feel no relief afterwards (and it always sounds like there is a heap of wee. It's not just a trickle - I sit there for a good 40 seconds!) I just don't know if this is baby related (more than likely I assume it is) or something else, and so not sure how to address it.
Any ideas on possible causes or others who've experienced the same, let me know :)

It sounds to me like your baby's head is on your bladder and stopping it from emptying properly or quickly. Could you try sitting with your feet up on a stool and leaning forward to try and see if this change in position gives you more relief?
The other thing that crossed my mind was a UTI. When you go for your next appointment ask your midwife about these symptoms. She will probably check your urine anyway for signs of infection but it doesn't hurt to raise it as an issue and see if she has any insight into what is happening.

Depending on where the baby is, I get that feeling. It's not all the time, or even every day, but there have been plenty of occasions where I have felt like I was going to wet myself and not make it to the toilet in time, but then there's almost nothing there. I find that laying down, or leaning over something helps with that bursting sensation as it obviously moves the baby off my bladder.

I am secretly hoping that it is being caused by the baby's head resitng on the bladder. He always seems to be 'head up' so would be comforting if he has figured out that head down is the better option
It is just there is so much wee!! But maybe you girls are right and it just seems like that becuase it comes out so slowly. I will speak to the obstetrician about it and ask about the UTI too. I hadn't even thought of that - thanks Traveller :)
