Childcare CCB/Rebate

Im hoping someone can help me out .....

My centre is open from 630-630. According to Centrelink we are 'entitled' to 50 hours per week. I was not aware that if you are charged a daily rate the hours are worked out from when your centre opens & closes (not really fair to parents IMO) then you have to pay the difference at the full rate.

Our centre director told me to call centrelink & advise them my hours are 630-630 & they can adjust the 50 hour a week entitlement. Has anyone done this?

Ive tried calling centrelink NUMEROUS times and its always engaged. I cant call them during my work hours, so its from 5pm onwards, I normally try around 7pm most nights. Tried to use the 'contact us' button but it gives me some sort of error message.

Yes mine got change for this reason. Because I was over my hour limit. It's been up to 60hours. Just call c/l and the ladies or men will put you onto the right person to speak to ;-)

You need to be aware that you can only be granted extra hours for the time your child actually has to be in care because neither parent can physically care for them. NOT the hours your centre charges. You can, at any time, be asked to prove why you need more than 50 hours care. You may have to show evidence that your child was in care for the full day and show why (ie dropped of at 630 because you work from 8-5 and have a 90 minute commute). Just because your centre charges a 12hiur day doesn't mean you get extra hours of ccb/ccr automatically. I have declined more of these requests than I've granted

Fair enough, DD2 is in care for 11.5hrs, so I should be ok.

Sorry BG, i think you may have answered my question here but i'm not sure i'm intepreting this right.

(I'm thinking ahead so so please forgive me).
Next year, DD2 will go to LDC 5 days a week. The centre in like most and I get charged by the day and they are open for 11hrs in the day. Obviously this would take me over the 50hours of care that i'm eligible to recieve CCR on. She is never there for the 11 hours anyway (maybe 10 at most). So what happens for the extra 5 hours a week over the 50 hours when i'm charged 11hrs per day regardless of how many they are there for??
Will I have to make some kind of application or something?

You can apply, but like BG said you have to prove why you need the additional hours.
Generally it just means the 5th day is more expenisive.
If you are a family receiving CCR to service it also means you get more CCR on this day and normally it evens out (until you hit the $7500 cap I suppose).

Yup, you'll pay full rate for the extra hours. No CCB will be applied.

I don't claim any Ccb though? Only ccr as reduced feed.

CCR isn't determined by hours per week, just a capped amount for the financial year.

Whoops, sorry I misread. Yes, what ausgirl said is correct. The hours don't come into it for CCR.

Ok cool thanks girls. Any Ccb that we might have gotten is at tax time so on theory they'd just calculate it and if get whatever amount

You still have to he eligible for CCB for the hours to attract ccr. There are still 24 and 50 hour limits.
