MCN and Liners

Can someone please explain liners to me..

I just dont get the point! for me, one of the reasons I love MCNs is cause I like the idea of material being on her bum instead of plastic. so flushable liners dont make sense, cause to me it is just putting yucky stuff near her bum...
then there are reusable ones, but then if you have to wash them then whats the point cause you have to wash the nappy anyway so no point with them.

am i missing something? i am thinking ;about them because my bubba is getting a little red bum (i think due to teeth), and I only have bepanthum to use, and i know that can mess up my nappies...

is there a point? are they something to explore?

oh, and my MCN stash is made up of BBH (pockets) and DMs, which are .... not pockets =P they have inserts that sit in them.

the main reason I use them at this point is so nappy cream doesn't stuff up the absorbency. Once they start solids their poos REALLY change and then the liners make life soooooo much easier

do you use disposible ones or reusable?

I use bamboo ones that can be rinsed and reused if just wees, and are flushable (except I don't cos we're on septics)

I like micro fibre cos it's cheap and if creams ruin them you can chuck them
I only use them if I'm using cream.
I've also used silk liners for redness.

I don't normally use liners, like you i generally don't see the point, but if I am using a nappy cream like bepanthen then I will definitely use them.
You could try silk liners while your child's bottom is red- apparently silk has some quality ( maybe antibacterial?? I'm not sure) that really helps with nappy rash.

Like you, I don't really see the point. My kids solid poo has always rolled off (sorry TMI). I have only ever used them with terrible terrible nappy rash that needed a zinc based cream. Or in fitteds where the bamboo is straight onto the skin (so the liner acts to draw the moisture away from the skin). I hate the flushable ones. They feel revolting to me, so I'd hate them on my bum. I've only ever used micro fleece.
TBH I think the reason many people use them is to try and prevent staining so they retain some resale value.

Please avoid put micro fibre immediately in contact with baby's skin - it is incredibly drying. You will be better served by microfleece, silk.

Liners can help with the washing of the nappy once you get past the newborn BF poo stage. They are also useful if baby has a sensitivity to any inner fabric of your stash (as can happen with seudecloth etc), when using creams or if you need a more/faster wickable fabric than what the inner fabric in your nappy is providing.

I use microfleece to protect my nappies from badass creams. My baby also doesn't do too well with natural fibre inners, so I use liners on some of those nappies to keep her a bit more dry.

I use flushable liners when we travel. My baby doesn't do rolly poos most of the time, so they are a lifesaver for us.

Yeah same I dont use flushable, they dont seem to protect the nappy well enough. Only time I use mine is from creams and things if DD has nappy rash. I use microfleece and just chuck if they get wrecked.
