Slightly urgent supply question

My pump broke and I've ordered a replacement part, I was expecting it to arrive today but it hasn't come with the morning mail. Yesterday I didn't get to pump at all at work cos it was broken, and I thought one day would be ok, but today I'm not going to be able to either and we don't really have enough petrol for DH to bring DS to work this arvo so I can get one arvo feed in. Will these two days affect my supply throughout the day, or do you think it will be ok if I can get back to pumping regularly tomorrow?

Are you only pumping during work hours or exclusively expressing? If its only while at work possibly hand expressing a little and getting your DS to feed more often when you are home might be enough. If it does affect your supply you can increase it again with more frequent expressing. Good luck

How often do you pump? Do you feed at the breast when you are with your son? I would think your supply will be fine however you may experience some discomfort if you pump often and aren't able to for a while. Can you hand express if you start to feel discomfort?

Thanks ladies. I only pump at work, normally twice sometimes three times a day. I feed from the breast at home and he feeds VERy frequently until bedtime, he's kind of obsessed lol. I can try and express a little by hand if I'm uncomfortable but I'm not very good at it. I've read all the info, and watched youtube videos and I just can't get the hang of it! Do you think I should get some Mothers Milk tea for the next few days or do you think I will b ok with just pumping a little more often?

The tea wouldn't hurt but then it might be money you dont need to spend? Have you got a stockpile in the freezer if your supply takes a hit and it takes a couple of days to get it back up to what it was? If you dont have a backup stock of EBM and you would prefer not to give your DS formula then maybe the tea would be a good idea in conjunction with the extra expressing. The key with supply is demand so keeping hydrated and increasing the frequency of expressing should be enough

Sepata, DS is old enough now that if your supply dips a bit he can build it back up again for you. The main concern with two days' break is engorgement - even after 12 months, you'd be surprised how quickly you can become engorged. Express a little by hand if you feel discomfort and get DS back onto the boob as soon as you get home.

You'll be ok to wait for the pump. I wouldn't bother with the tea - many mothers find these sort of homeopathic remedies don't really do much and if you're financially strapped, I wouldn't bother.

Thanks!! The part I was waiting on was delivered to my home yesterday instead of my work, looks like the picked the wrong address! Engorgement wasn't too bad, managed to express a little in the parents room sink when it got reeaaally uncomfortable but otherwise it was ok. Hopefully everything goes back to normal today!
