Hi All,
Is it normal for a 6 day old sounding like she is gasping for air (makes like a goose noise sorta).
We will be seeing the doc tomorrow but just concerned.
Thanks in advance.

It is always worth getting it checked out. Hope bubs is ok
I would get it checked out, but I do not think it is normal.
Gasping for air doesn't sound good.. i'd go to the hospital. Is bub a good colour? Are fingers and toes warm and pink? lips pink?
Frankly, I'd take her to hospital NOW. That's not normal.
It could possibly be a stridor? If her hands or feet are cold or she gets a blueish tinge to her skin I'd take her to get checked out straight away. Hope it ends up being nothing.
I think you need to get her checked out straight away.
Hope all ok
Go to the hospital.
hope she's ok!
Hey ladies just an update.
Dd2 is fine. Doctor said she is fine, the weird gasping is OK and lungs are cleared.
Thanks ladies.
Great to hear DD is ok
Just keep an eye on it. My nephew was doing something similar and despite the paediatrician telling my sister nothing was wrong and maybe he just had a cold, it turned out that he had Laryngomalacia. Not saying this is the case with your little one, but if it continues ask for more answers. My sister was hesitant to keep asking questions at first (cause the doctor obviously knows best) but in the end asked for a referral to another paediatrician who was able to tell her what was actually going on.
Did you have a C/S?
This is common with C/S babies as they don't have everything squeezed out as they come through the birth canal. So they tend to be wheezy and chesty. DD did some crazy wheezes when she was about the same age. Scared the crap out of me.
Thanks Miss Dee.
Rouge, I didnt have a c-section but got induced at 38wks and 4 days?
Yup scared the crap out of me too but on close monitoring (which ok i kinda paniced) it came from her nose. Sounds like a goose noise.
Even if you had a c section, all the fluid is cleared by six days. You can try getting a little nasal sucker and auctioning her nose if you think it is that. Does she feed well and putting on weight? This is a good way to tell if she can breathe properly as babies have to breathe through their nose, so if nose is blocked they can't feed. If it is still there in a few days I would suggest getting her checked out again.
Sorry LC but DD was chesty for 2 weeks.
She is feeding very well, gained 400g since leaving hospital. She also has a bit of facial jaundice though.
I will try that little fesses (gosh at least i remember what the brand is now!)
We will be getting her checked out next week if it continues but the doctor was more worried about her jaundice than her "gasping"
