I have my DS's 5yo birthday party tomorrow. I had planned to have a treasure hunt and the prizes were toy planes on a launcher which I thought would entertain them for a bit, a game of soccer, pass the parcel. But the weather is terrible and I doubt we can go outside now so I will have seven 4/5 year olds stuck in my house!! How do I entertain them for 2 hours? I can still do pass the parcel but can anyone think of something cool for boys of this age to do?
Any help appreciated.
Could you change the treasure hunt to make it indoors? Might be a little noisy and hectic though..

Could you do some cooking with them? Could be rally messy but if you got some pita bread and got them to make their own pizzas they could thn do pass the parcel while their food cooks? cupcake decorating is another one which goes well, I make a couple of big batches of cupcakes, the $1 packet mix is fine as the fun is in the decorating more so than the eating, mini marshmallows,sprinkles and choc chips are good to decorate.
Do you have many adults to help? Could you do a make the best costume out of toilet paper and sticky tape ? Do you have craft gear? If you do get some boxes and split the boys into groups and get them to make robots, my brothers load doing this as kids
Pin the tail, although this normally doesn't take much time

I usually just set up different things in different rooms, Lego in one, building blocks, colouring/craft table, and they will usually have fun just going around and playing with new toys! Also unless it's pouring I would bundle them up and send them outside. We are in Melbourne and it's been windy and feral here the last few days but unless it's pouring mine have been out every day.
I saw an idea that I'm going to be using for Buster's birthday, they are all 3 year olds so don't know if this is too young...
But it's a large sheet of cardboard with a hole in it, maybe with a target painted around it or something. Get some little beanbags and have a game of who can get the most into the hole from various distances.
It's probably a bit much at short notice though!

Cupcake decorating is a good one. Or even easier if you give each child a small bowl of vanilla ice-cream and then provide bowls of sprinkles, marshmallows, choc flakes etc for decorating.
We've done follow the leader before when you line them all up and basically walk around and around doing various noises/actions like train noises (with arms), clapping, stamping, funny walking, animal noises etc. They love this sort of thing but it requires making a right idiot of yourself LOL. Also simple games like statues (everyone freezes when the music is turned off) or musical bumps (sit down when the music is turned off) work well and you can make them either competitive or not competitive.
Prolly a bit late to organise now but other things we've done in the past is give kids strips of coloured cardboard to decorate (with pictures, stickers etc) and then staple them into crowns/party hats. We've also done temporary tattoos - the kids love getting them put on their faces . :)
