Cookware recommendations?

Tomorrow I'm getting new pots and pans. Our current set just isn't healthy to be cooking with anymore and I'm pretty sick of our "non-stick" pans being seriously sticky. So does anyone have any recommendations for me?

I'm looking for a full set, and price isn't really an issue right now - I'm happy to pay what I need to to get quality that will last. I'm not too sure about non-stick coating anymore either. That's all we've ever had and they've never lasted longer than six months, no matter the type or how well we look after it.

So how good is cast iron or stainless steel? Do you have to look after them or cool with them differently?

Le Crueset are lovely cast iron cookware. Will last for ever if they are looked after - no steel scourer! They make cooking a pleasure.

I also have Baccarat pots and pans and am very happy with them.

Baccarat, and the Jamie Oliver Tefal range is fabulous, if you have the $$, Swiss Diamond.

Le Crueset are awesome and of all mine I love my Scanpan non-stick the best followed by Analon. DH used to work for a high end homewares store and Scanpan were returned the least!

Thanks - I've just Googled Le Crueset and they look nice! I've only got one shop I can go to here, but I know they have a good variety. They definitely have Scanpan so it's good that they have a good review!

I have a Gabriel Gate set of saucepans and frypans and they have been really good wearing! They also have a lifetime gaurantee which is good!
The Le Creuset look lovely!

The store didn't have Le Crueset, but completely sold me on the Scanpan. So I've just bought a Scanpan Impact 6 piece stainless steel set for $279 down from $599 - score! So I also got a Circulon 30cm non-stick skillet for $120. Looking forward to cooking now!

Thanks for all the recommendations, it makes me feel like I've got something decent :)

Happy cooking! I need some new cookware too, but waiting till I have $$$ to get something good.

My Baccarat non-stick wok is still perfectly non stick after 3 years of almost daily use. Maybe it is all in the care??

My Bessemer frypan is peeling. I'm so disappointed with it. I've been looking into Scanpan and think I'm going to replace it with one of those.

I'm sure it's partly how you use and care for the pans and partly the quality of the non-stick coating. In the past we've bought pans and been really excited by how good they are, looked after them better than ourselves (:lol:) and they last a maximum of 6 months. This time the Circulon won't be used every day though so I'm sure we'll be able to keep it in good knick :-)
