Vba2c info needed- help please!
Ok.
I'm due mid Jan and just had my booking in appointment today with the hospital (Gold coast hospital) and it didn't go down very well with the midwife when I said I want a Vba2c.
Her exact words were 'we don't allow vaginal births after 2 c-sections at this hospital'. And because I didn't change my mind they refused to set up my care plan (midwife based care) until after I have seen an OB.
I left feeling pretty deflated.
My 1st c-section (emergency) was a failed induction, and fetal distress. I had my second last year (exactly a year tomorrow :) ) and that was an elective.
I loved my second c-sec! It was an awesome birth :)
My reason for wanting a Vba2c this time is because I developed endometritis which for various reasons wasn't treated properly until 6w PP. I nearly lost my uterus and as a consequence of that I lost my milk supply. I tried to keep BF but ended up giving up at 8 weeks later.
Any advice or experience would be appreciated. And what books and info would be worth the read??
Thanks for reading! Xx

Hi Yas, not sure if u came up with some support from hospital or not but I have noticed that there are quite a few independent midwives with hospital rights down the Gold Coast now - have you checked them out as an option???
I have heard they do look after vbac clients....

I had a VBA2C in May 2009 at Mater Mother's Brisbane. They tried to convince me not to, but said they'd support what I wanted to do. I was honestly expecting to have to convince them to let me, so I went to my OB appointment armed with info - all my reasons for wanting a VBA2C, benefits of vaginal birth, and a print-out of a study I found on the Internet which concluded there was no difference in risk of uterine rupture between VBA2C and VBAC. (So sorry I can't find the link!) Everyone I saw at the hospital gave me a different statistic for the uterine rupture risk (ranging from 0% increase to 5% increase), and some even laughed at me for wanting to have a vaginal birth at all! I had to have a couple of OB appointments for other opinions on the matter, but they all said while they advise against it, they'll support me. So I'd advise you to go in armed with info, prepared to stick up for yourself, and don't take too much notice of their "statistics". Is Brisbane too far away far to drive for you? Current pregnancy I'm at Redlands Hospital, but since they don't do VBA2C, they will transfer me to Mater at 36 weeks. If something like that's not an option, then perhaps a private midwife will be the way to go. All the best, I hope you get the birth experience you're hoping for. :0)

Just saw this thread is a couple of months old- how did you go, OP? All the best for January!
