I am some recommendations for good knickers for DD. I am so sick of buying her new knickers only to have the elastic go after the first wash and then they hang down. I am especially on the hunt for school next year so the poor little girl doesn't have to keep hitching her knickers up when she runs. She is very skinny and has nothing in the bum department, LOL!
I have access to Big W, Kmart, Target, Cotton on, Pumpkin patch & Trade secret.
What brands/styles do you find the best?
We love the rio knickers - the monkey bar knickers & there is another cut but can't remember the name.
Thick elastic, never worn down, DD1 is quite thin and the fit well.
I cheat and get them from dimmeys when they have them for like $1 - $2 a pair in the 2 packs.
So much so we bought the same for DD2 and the refuse to wear the old plain cotton ones.
The ones we get are the cotton/elastane
DD's original knickers came from Pumpkin Patch, she was 18 months and they were the only ones I could get to fit her little bum :). We have also bought 'monkey bar' knickers from big w, which are like little hot pants but have lasted really well as well. Used to be able to get some from Target but they only seem to have those knickers with a tiny waistband of elastic (well here anyway).
Good luck, its tricky when they dont quite fit what's easy to buy!
The rio netball knickers are our school undies of choice. They are navy blue with boy short legs. Perfect for upside down on the monkey bar tricks. The monkey bar undies are also good if colour isn't an issue. Dd1 is long and skinny and these worked well for her.

Emma let me know if you ever need bigger sizes & I can grab them from here for a couple if $ rather than like $5+ a packet.
I have found the target ones do last well, especially the character ones. Out of all the pairs we have had, only a couple have had the elastic detach.
Big W, found you need to pay more. The ones with the thick band of elastic are working quite well at the moment, and the ones where the elastic is encased in the hem. The ones with the thin stip of hat elastic are just rubbish.
As much as I hate teh character stuff and avoid it as much as possible, they do seem to last the longest here. Will have to check out the netball ones for next year Nai - Iz will want to weawr dresses and is always doing cartwheels, handstands and hanging off monkey bars!
And they last a long time too. She has been wearing them for 2 years, I rotate 3-4 pairs and they are still in perfect condition.
I find it depends on your machine too. We were only commenting on this last night. When we had a top loader heaps of clothes would wreck quickly. Especially elasticated items since having our front loader nothing has deteriorated.
I tend to stick with bonds, DD1 wears rio netball knickers over her undies and she doesn't like them without undies
best n less have ribbed, plain colour, all cotton little girl's knickers in size 2-3, they often go on sale too. More coverage than other shop's low hipped little girl knickers. If your washing machine is hard on elastics, my suggestion is to put the knickers in a zippered wash bag, to protect them.
i think with most of the products for sale, the emphasis is on the look, to hook the shopper. And not the quality (e.g lasting and surviving washing). Less and less actual fabric is being used too. Very cheap notions are used (pretty but nonlasting elastic). IT's like undies are being sold as a disposable item. They know that most of us don't sew, couldn't make them ourselves.
Monkey bar undies are great! I bought them from big w - my daughter is tiny in the waist and no bottom and they are size 2-3 which normally 2-3 size is too big. She also is in her size 1 pumpkin patch undies and she has just turned 3. She has been toilet trained for 9 months now.

I've never heard of Monkey Bar knickers but will give anything a go - do they do boy jocks as well? I am just struggling to find the thick elastic.
Pretty sure they do boys as well.
DD's are like shorts- think men's bonds tight boxer short type underwear.
