DS is 5 days old, he sleeps all day and all night, waking only for a feed and some interaction then falls asleep again. Is that normal? I was expecting to be a lot more sleep deprived!
Last night I had to get up and take him out to the lounge while I watched TV for several hours because I'm so paranoid of something happening while we are asleep that I feel like someone needs to be awake in the room at all times!
Quite normal hun - in a few more days or so you will probably notice that your DS will become increasingly more 'awake' and could change his sleeping patterns very much! So enjoy it while it lasts :D
Yep, usually they 'wake up' around the 2 week mark, birth is just as tiring for them and they may sleep 20 of 24 hrs - very normal!!
How is the feeding going? What are his wet and dirty nappies like? (colour/quantity) How many feeds does he have in 24 hours? sorry about all the questions - probably normal but it's worth asking. Was/is he jaundiced at all?
He is feeding great. Nappies fine, mustard like poop and regular urination, need to change every 3-4 hours.
No jaundice.
As long as he's getting plenty of milk then it's fine :) Sounds good.
Newborns sleep alot for the first couple weeks. Very normal :) Being born is hard work! Follow his cues, he knows what hes doing :)
our DD slept heaps in the first month. I remember having to wake her to feed her and then she'd fall asleep again on the boob. I thought ha, I've got an easy one, but then they wake up a lot more after the first couple of weeks. Enjoy this quiet time!
