Just a Question about ART :)
Hi guys, I'm new here!
Just a little info - I've been trying to conceive for over 2.5 years. I've taken many, many supplements, preseed, zestica, instead cups, 6 rounds Clomid 100mg, 5 BFN's and one ectopic pregnancy. DX Unexplained Infertility at Albury Reproductive.
I'm moving over to Canberra Fertility Centre in the next few months. Even though its much further away, we haven't been happy with Albury Reproductive, not in the least. (If anyone has any experience with CFC I would really appreciate it!)
I haven't had ART as of yet, but its looking in that direction. I feel at the point where I'm just so done with waiting, being told there's nothing wrong with me, being ignored and being left feeling like I don't matter at all. If there was nothing wrong, 2.5 years of perfect cycles (on paper anyway) would have resulted in a successful pregnancy!
After looking at the success rates for my age group (under 30) I'm not really keen on bothering with IUI because of the low success rate. I would rather spend my money on IVF, and then FET's after that.
We don't have a huge amount of money to throw around, and I want to invest in treatments with the highest success rates.
Do you HAVE to go the traditional route of IUI, then IVF? Can I just jump straight into IVF? Is it my decision or the doctors decision?
Just a Question about ART :)
My specialist recommended that I go straight to Ivf, i was 30/31 at the time. Like you I am unexplained, I was all booked for Ivf but chickened out and asked to do IUI first. I'm kind of glad I did bc it eased me in to ART & the procedures slowly. Knowing what I know now though, I would have gone straight to Ivf and saved the money for Ivf.
I agree with Vic, you should be able to choose & a good specialist will work with you. Mine does too. Good luck. : )
