I've noticed my neck has been really hurting the last couple of days, i've got the flu so just put it down to normal aches and pains. I was laying down and started rubbing my neck and i felt a lump.
Its under my right ear, kind of near where the jaw connects i suppose is the best description. It feels like a mass and is quite big.
Any ideas on what it could be? Trying not to freak out and run to the doctors.
My guess would be a swollen gland, normal when you have the flu!
Get it checked out. I know a few cases of mumps that has been developing with signs that start off like a cold.
:o I have quite a few symptoms of it. Particularly painful chewing and swallowing, i haven't been able to eat properly for almost a week now.... Hmm a trip to the doctors may be in order tomorrow.:
Swollen gland possibly? It's highly likely considering you've had the flu.
Best thing to do if you're concerned is a trip to your GP. :-)
So not mumps but glandular fever :(
Plenty of bed rest for me........ like that will happen :rolleyes: thankfully DP has the next two days off work.

Oh bugger :( did you have a blood test?
I was meant to today but the pathology was busy so i go tomorrow but the doctor is pretty certain its glandular fever, he just wants to a liver function test to be done to make sure all is good there.
