Can't decide whether or not to bring the pram... What would you do?

We're treating ourselves to a trip to Bali with the boys, but can't decide whether or not it's worth bringing a pram with us. I'll have a carrier for DS2 (6mth's), but he's a wriggler and not sure how happy he'll be being in it a lot. DS1 (3) is pretty good walking etc, but our flight home is late at night so it would be handy to have it to get around the airport etc. Also thinking it would be good to have so we don't always have to go back to the room for DS2's naps... But it is also as hassle to lug around... Would you bother bringing it?

I would buy one of the $20 odd strollers from Big W. That way I wouldn't care about how it got treated and if it was really pee'ing me off, I wouldn't feel badly about dumping it either.

ETA: Just wanted to say that the first three trips I went on with DDs 1 and 2 we took the big, heavvvvvvy double pram - first trip they would have been 5 mths and 17 mths, the last more like 18 mths and 2.5 yrs. It was a pain to lug around, but it was also totally invaluable and well worth the inconvenience factor of dealing with it ITMS. We went to Hong Kong last December and I seriously considered buying the pram we needed for DD3 while we were there because we hadn't taken one, and DD2 was getting VERY heavy lugging her around when she got tired

I would take it. Most airlines carry prams for infants for free, so when I was travelling with my 1 yr old and 3 yr old, I just threw the double pram in as the pram for my convenience.

We took a stroller that folded into a backpack and fitted into overhead luggage when we went overseas. It was great for airports and also for tired legs. Dd also had naps in it as she got tired being on the go so much. I would take one, but definitely a small, light one!

I would just buy a cheapie as well. Is it the donkey you are talking about? If so then there is no way I would take my donkey pram over with me. The footpaths are terrible and you'd end up doing alot of damage to the pram.

One of the biggest mistakes we recently made was to not take a stroller for DD2 who was 3 on a recent trip to NZ. Despite being experienced travellers we underestimated how much her little legs could take and really regretted it. We too also nearly bought a cheap stroller whilst over there. So the answer would be yes definitely take one!!

Yep, I'd take a stroller. If your little one likes to lie flat when sleeping then a $20 one isn't going to do it. I can't remember if they need to be mostly flat at that age?

You'll still be able to find a stroller that goes flat from BigW, Target etc, but might cost you closer to $100. Could you try and borrow one off someone either IRL or on BB?

Definitely take a cheapie with you. I've heard that people often give the stroller to a local eg someone who works at their hotel or a cafe they went to, when they finish their holiday.

I'd take a cheapie, two if needed. Check your local FB buy and sell group. I see second hand full layback strollers cheap all the time on my local one. Donating it when you leave is a great idea too.

OMG I don't know what we were thinking!!!! Thank goodness I had you ladies to set me straight. We've been here two days now and have been using the pram constantly. It was a godsend getting here and great to be able to put DS1 in when he was tired and cranky at the airports. DS2 has been in it heaps here at the resort, it's way too hot to have him in the carrier, I have no idea what I was thinking... So big thankyou for setting us straight!

I only just saw this thread, but was about to say it would be WAY to hot to wear a baby in a carrier in Bali! The heat and humidity are almost unbearable over there. I'm glad you decided to bring a pram, hope you're having a great time!
