hey all :)
ive started on the pill ( YASMIN ) my GP said that if i take it correctly it is 99.9% effective , is it ?? Because as much as i love my little chubby-cheeks.. i do not want anymore kids :)
p.s - it might be de'ja vu but i feel like ive asked this questions before , i cant find it or the asnwer anywhere so im asking again :)
Well yes apparently it is. But I know too many people who have still conceived whilst taking the pill religiously!
So long as you take it properly you should have no problems at all. But like danni said, it can happen. Be cautious though that if you are sick with gastro or are taking antibiotics, then it can lessen their protection, so you will have to use other methods for that period.
I just make sure I take it at the same time every night as well. Normally just before my bed time which is 7pm on work nights.
I think everybody's body is different as far as the pill goes. Like some people have bad reactions, some dont. Some fall pg if they miss a pill, some dont. Kwim.
I used to miss the pill all the time and never fell pg. Not sure how actually because im really fertile. Only took me going off the pill to fall by next cycle.
Just follow instructions and try not to miss one. Then you know your covered.
My Friend Fell preg on the pill, during a bout of gastro!! She kept taking it too, until about 2 months into the pregnancy, and she went on to have a beautiful baby girl. :):

Just be careful with throwing up, the runs, antibiotics etc... read the packet very carefully LOL. Otherwise you just may end up with a beautiful suprise like my little one LOL.
Have you thought of trying the Implanon Implant?? That is not affected by gastro etc. That is what I have in now.
I fell pg with #3 on the pill and antibiotics ( DOH) and I fell pg with #4 on the mini pill and BF, but I have a lot of trouble with break through bleeding on the pill, and only those with very high dosages work for me. ( I didnt fall pg for 5 yrs before #1& #2 I was on a high dose pill)

The cost of the implanon implant was $29.95 plus the drs fees when I had it put in. If you are on any concessions then it is only $4.95 to purchase it. I used to pay $23.00 every 3 months for the pill so it works out alot cheaper in the end as the implant lasts for 3 years and if you decide that want to TTC you just take it out and things go back to normal. HTH

And you shouldnt menstruate at all on it :)
That is pretty much it. They insert it into your arm in an incision about 1/2 cm long (all done under local LOL). I didn't even require stitches.
And Danni is right... so far I've had no AF. My Dr said that some will get normal AF, others light spotting and others nothing at all!!!

When I had my Implanon in I got a period about every three months.
But, my DR also made me take a pregnancy test every two.
Just be wary that there can be side effects with the Implanon for some people. Most people I know that have had it, had to get it taken out again within 2 months because they could not cope - they had massive mood swings, bleeding on & off etc.
But as for the pill being 99.9% effective, I'm not too sure I believe that either... I just know too many people that have fallen pg on it. Theres too many factors that can influence it I think.
My Dr said out of every 10 they put in they will take 3 out for those reasons Ambah. I was nervous about having it in for that reason. My Dr said might as well give it a shot as for the 7 that it worked for - it was a dream. I've had it in for about 6 - 8 weeks now and so far so good. I've had one friend who had it who swore by it and another who had it taken out. It definately depends on the person I think.
