Did you love #2 or subsequent babies name as much before they were born??!

I'm having heaps of troubles this time round. I really feel that DDs name is 'perfect'. As a result, I'm frantically trying to find the 'perfect' name for #2. So far I like a lot of names, but I'm not sure if I love them as much. I'm starting to wonder if I love DDs name so much because I love her so much and that maybe the names I like at the moment I will 'love' once I have a little person associated with them?? Not sure if this makes sense to anyone else.... Has anyone else experienced this or am I just going crazy? I want another 'perfect' name so much!

what we did (my exdh and i) we decided to name our children when we saw them..... and it worked both times :)

We had the same problems with DD2... as a result, we didn't find a 'perfect name' and she went namelss until she was 4 days old! LOL
Even now, I am not sure I like her name...I do, but I probably would have preferred it spelt differently...and yes, I think I like it because it is hers, not that I like the name for itself, itms. If ex hadn't have had a say at all, she would have been named after my mum and I would have loved her name ;) Damn collaboration! :rofl:

DH and I could NOT agree on a name for number 2. Ultimately, he got the final shortlist (because I chose number 1's name) and then I picked the one I least objected to. It was really uncomfortable to be honest and I was very frightened that it wouldn't grow on me... but I love it. It's him, and I can't imagine him being called anything else now. His gorgeousness makes the name gorgeous... So yeah, I think I know what you mean!

Ok, I'm glad people know what I mean then! It makes part of me not want to keep looking and just go with the name I like now, but I know I won't be able to stop looking lol!

This is funny as I was only saying to DH last night that I don't think I will ever love our DS2's name as much as I love DS1's :lol: DS1 has IMO the perfect boys name. As soon as I heard we were expecting another boy I knew it would be hard finding his name!

When i was pregnant with DD we picked a girls name and a boys. Which both the kids are named. People told me that it was silly to name the kids before seeing them but they felt right from word go and i absolutely love both their names. I think they go so well together and fit in perfectly with our family.

Though if we were to have a 3rd i think i would find myself feeling that way as my kids have the best name for their gender.

Yep we had this problem, I loved DS1s name from the first time I saw it. the name I loved for DS2 DH hates so was off the list, I only liked the names on our shortlist but DH really wanted one particular one so we went with that. I'm still coming to love it but its only been a couple of weeks.

i loved DD1's name from the time we chose it after finding out at the 20 week scan she was a girl!

DD2's name, however, who is now 20 months, i'm still not 100% sold on. there are days that i don't *love* or even really *like* her name but i know that the other name i had picked out would not have suited her at all.

i'm hoping by the time she's 21 i'll love it :lol:

Chody we are so on the same page right now. I feel exactly the same hun! I idea what to do about picking something...

We had chosen a short list of boy and girl names before we even knew DS was going to be a boy. We had two possible boy names and one girl name. We both loved both names, but I leant to toward one, and DH leant toward the other. When I was in labour hubby started calling the baby by the name that I loved to help me through labour (so I guess I won, lol).

We knew DD1 was a girl before I was even pregnant so we had a while to think of names. It came down to two (that are almost the same) and once again we loved them both but had slightly different preferences. This time I gave birth to her before we made a decision. After she came out and the midwife asked if she had a name, I turned to hubby and told him I loved both names so he could choose. He ended up choosing the one I liked better because the other one didn't match as well with the quick approach she had to labour, lol. I love her name as much as I do my son's.

When we fell pregnant with our special surprise baby I decided that I didn't want to know the gender until the birth, but hubby wanted to know, so he found out at 12 weeks and is a fantastic secret keeper because he never gave it away. We chose both a boy and a girl name and I loved them both and was actually sad that I wasn't going to get to use one of them, lol. The boy and girl middle name both actually matched so they would have been perfect for twins. We ended up having another little girl and her name suits her perfectly.

I would have a really hard task if I was to try to work out which of the kid's names I liked the most. I think I might like DD1's the most, but only very slightly ♥♥♥

I am having the same problem!!! I even joked to DH that I just love DS' name so much, that we should name this bub B.lake #2
It kind of feels like we chose our favourite name for our first son, and that our second son will get a less-favourite name that we discarded last time. Unless I discover a 'new' name that is equally awesome...

We went through a lot of names by meanings. And then narrowed things down with all 3 kids.
Ds2 was the hardest to choose and it was also 1 we could both deal with haha.
After he was born I looked up the meaning for it and its so him - Elfin army. He's cute and tiny but ferocious and unstoppable

We had names picked out before we were pregnant :) I still have names for children ill never have. Names are so important to me and they have to be absolutely right so planning goes in long before I need to make the decision.

I know if DD had been a boy, I would not have loved the name we had chosen. But then again, if I didn't know that DD was a girl (DH didn't know), I probably would have argued harder for a name I did love ITMS. I love DS's name. It is perfect. We had two girls names we were alternating between for DD so if we had another girl, I think we would choose the alternative name and would still love it.

Nice to know it can grow on you dh has picked a name I'm not 100% on but he loves it and has his heart set on it so I guess it will have to grow on me it's a very unusual name too lol

I was up the other night thinking exactly the same thing!

DH and I both loved DS's name and when we read it out of the baby book we looked at each other and just "knew" it was the right name. But second time around can be harder (as I too am finding)

Trust me on this, I can guarantee that then when your holding your beautiful little baby a name will come to your head......It might even surprise you what it is, but it will be perfect - I have never had clearer thoughts then when I was looking into DS's eyes after his birth, you just know what your child should be called and when you say her name out loud it will fit :heartbeat:
