Childrens Smart Trikes

Hi

I am looking at getting on the of 3 in 1 trikes for his birthday or xmas (so will be pretty much 12 months). I am very confused by all the different ones i see in the shops. They range in varying prices from $30.00 to $200 depending on where and what kind you buy.

I would like peoples opinions on different ones and what is good about them and what was not! One of the things that i definitely want is the over the shoulder harness buckle as opposed to just the waist buckle. but other than that i cant tell the difference between them all!

so let me know if you have one whether it is worth the money to go higher end price range or if the lower range cost ones work just as well!

I wouldn't waste my money. we had one and it never got used that much.

We have one.We got it from target when on sale its normally round $200. Its 6months and up. DD loves it.Only issue we have is the steering is funny

We have a Eurotrike. 3 kids later and it is barely used. The steering is hard to lock and the peddle rotation is too small so they don't get much action for the peddling and so have no inclination to try. IMO you are better off getting a $20 plastic ride on - those get heaps of use.

I had 1 that I bought from toys r us for $190 and it was hardley used apart from kids pushing around the house!! If I took it out would end up caarrying child or them walking depending on age. Recently sold it.

I agree with the above :) Ours has hardly been used either. Crap to steer and noisy wheels on footpaths/roads and awful on grass etc. I've recently removed the handle to use as a regular trike and it's hard to peddle and my DS doesn't ride it as he prefers other bikes we have. We have the "smart trike" from Target.

Don't get one, they're a PITA, lol. Get a normal little ride-on bike for now that he pushes with his feet. Then get a balance bike later.

I agree I would buy another trike not the smart trike. As said the steering doesn't match up. You have to hold the handle in a weird position to go straight & when it comes to them learning to peddle they can't push the peddles as the wheels have no grip & are made of hallow plastic which slip on the ground. It is also very noisy when pushing. With DS2 we waited until he was 2 and got him a radio flyer trike. Metal & solid with good grip wheels. Both boys can ride on it as ours has a double step for standing/sitting on the back whilst the other rides.

We had a smart trike, but it wasn't used much. The steering was really hard because the little ones keep trying to go somewhere else and it was too hard for her to peddle by herself once the handle came off.
