Water smell from air conditioning - Yuk!

The smell when we turn the water on for our air con thing on the roof makes me sick! Last summer, while I was pg and had severe morning sickness, we would use the same cooler, and I could smell the water then too. At the time I didn't think it made me feel much worse, but now, it makes me feel as sick as I did then. That whole smell association thing. So I am wondering, ahould I 'just' try and get used to the smell and hope eventually it won't bother me anymore, or try to cover up the smell, or ...?

Really? I love aircon smell :lol: It just says summer to me. Different strokes for different folks, hey?

Yep. Thanks Teni. No help at all! Lol. I think I will just have to get used to the smell and try to make that happy summer association, instead of green, vomit feelings. :)

If you have a system installed in your roof, clean out the filters and pop some bromine tablets in a bottle with holes in. It'll neutralise the smell and keep the system clean. I also soak my vents in eucalyptus oil and hot water just before every summer. Hope that helps xx

are you talking about evap cooling? depending on its age, it may not be a self cleaning one.... if it isnt then its meant to be cleaned yearly, you risk legionaires disease if not, we used to clean our old one yearly.

Exactly what I was going to say. We service ours every year or it really stinks and isn't healthy.
