4yr Old Kinder 2013

Who has a LO heading to kinder next year - are you ready for it?

DD1 is moving from 3yr old to 4yr old next year and she can't wait, she is staying at the same centre and has managed to get into a group with her best friend from this year.

It will be three days a week
Mon & Friday - 9:15 - 2:45
Tues - 8:30 - 12:30

I will have DD2 at 3yr old on mon morning and Friday arvo's which is going to make Friday's a VERY busy pick-up and drop-off day.. we don't actually live in town so might make Friday the visit friends in town day :)

She has orientation on the 9th Dec, then an interview on the 30th January and then term starts on the first.
I'm very excited for her, she loves kinder and the longer hours will be great for her.

I am in the same boat. DD is moving from 3yo kinder up to 4yo. We had our orientation yesterday. She loved it.
She is so ready for it. Up until the last couple of weeks she nags to go out and do stuff (I think she has hit the end of year tired patch). She keeps asking what her teachers name was. She knows 2 other children from 3 yo kinder in her group but isn't friends with them. Will be an exciting time I think

DS1 is doing cc kinder room 2 days a week (same room been in all year) and local kinder 2 maybe 3 days a week. The hours are ment to be 4 days of 3.75 hrs which is annoying and useless to anyone who wants to work so made decision to do both.
Hours are 0815 till 1230 and 1245 till 1630 I think something like that start times are right.

Orientation on 5th of dec.
He is excited to be going to kinder.

Iain starts next yr also. Currently he attends 1 day of "preschool", its a early childhood development programme to assist him with his speech & social development. Its a small class of 4 to 6 kids. He will be supported going into his kinder year also but he will move from 1 day a week to 5 days a fortnight. With either 1 full day or 2 half days at the ECDP. It will be a busy getting everyone dropped off & picked up on time as the big kids school is about 10 minutes from the kinder.
I think Iain will be ok, will probably go back to having a sleep most days though!

My DS2 is going to be going 2 fulls days next year in 4yr old room at preschool. Monday & Tuesday - 9am till 3pm. He's excited to be going 2 days next year instead of just the 1 full day that he did this year in 3yr old room at preschool.

DD had her orientation & seemed to like the new big girls room. She already shares the yard so that's comforting for her I think.

She was a bit shy to start but said she liked her teachers.

She is happy knowing DD2 gets her teachers next year & that she can still see them!

Miss J is starting 4yo kinder next year too. 8.30 - 2.30 Monday & Wednesday and 9.30 - 12.30 Friday. She knows her teachers already as they were DD1's teachers and she is very happy. Very excited about being a big kid at the centre. She is very ready for it I think and she has a group of 5 girls that she is good friends with who will be in her kinder group which is awesome.

Does anyone know, with Kindy fee's can you claim them with CCB or CCR? Iain will be attending a C&K kindy & his fee is already discounted due to having the HCC, but I wonder if i need to notify centerlink further?

I'm totally not! DD starts school and DS 4 yr old! We missed the orientation day but are now living in seachange town so should all be fine! I still need to chase up a few things before they both start!

DS goes 9-2:30 M and F and 9-1 Tuesday which is great as its next door to the school! My babies are growing up too fast!

FJ you can claim the kinder fees if its a registered child care place, they can send you a form to fill out and if you get FTB A you get some back. ( I think that makes sense!!!)

Yeah pretty ready. DD2 has a new bag and a lunch box. We have all the session times, including the frustrating start week with its mucked up times, not sure what I am meant to do about work that week :rolleyes:

DD2 is looking forward to it. Which is the main thing. Thankfully she has one friend in her session, sadly a couple of the others are in the other session.

DD2 is so excited. She went for a play end of last year and loved every minute and didn't want to leave :)

I need to get her new runners and label everything! Otherwise we are sorted, oh and I want to do some baking so there are some snacks in the freezer ready to pull out for school and Kindy

I need to get DS1 a new back pack. He is very excited, me not so much as hours are crap!! Between CC and kinder will have 1 day with neither on a week! DS2 is going to be lost without his big brother!!!

We have enrolment interview in a few weeks then start week after. At the session we went to for kids to all have a play we were told only fruit and veggie for snack no cakes, biscuits, yogurt etc.

The more restricted food is a pain. I have gotten used to school, which only has restrictions depending on if there is someone in the classes with an allergy/intolerance. Kinder, just seems to apply most restrictions regardless.

Oh. On the Kinder committee this year. Swore I would never do this kind of thing, but most of my parent friends do the committee volunteer thing, plus it is really the only way to have say in the fundraising. On the plus side, I get a night away from the family a month and it is at the pub ;)

Like your thinking Astrid - more about the pub than the committee bit though :p
Not on the committee here although i might aswell be living there this year as DD2 is doing 3yr old too.

We have Monday both girls there, Tues DD1 there while DD2 does gymnatics, Wed both girls have swimming then DD2 has gymnastics, Fri both girls there.

hmm i don't know if it would be, i will have to ask I guess. Its a proper Kindy set up. School hours, school days, school holidays etc. Its not a day care, only a Kindy.

Iain doesn't do "activities" as such but he has speech pathology & Occupational therapy once a fortnight (each) which I am yet to work out times for. Speech is going to be a problem as she hasn't any times outside his days at kindy, nor anytimes that would make it easy for me to collect him early, go to appointment then go on to pick up big kids. so not sure what I will do there.
I want to fit in gym for me & look into swimming lessons for Rohan as he is very water confident so when we go he just barges right in but can't keep himself afloat or get to the edge.
