A bit TMI - Should I go to the hospital?

Ok, so this is what happened -
Fri 9th I got definite + HPT.
Mon 12th Started bleeding, went to doctor who did 2 urine tests - both negative. Sent me for US - which showed nothing and tech said it was very early and therefore probably too small to see. This was apparently extremely confusing to the doctor.
Tues 13th did another HPT with FMU which was very faint +. Had blood test mid afternoon which came back as "negative" (It was supposed to be quantitive shouldnt it have been "0" or less than 5?)
Continued to bleed and had cramps for 6 days - passed clots and a very small amount of grey tissue (from what I saw it was 3 or 4 pieces about the size of mustard seeds). Then brown blood day 7, large blobs of brown cm and spotting on day 8. Since then the odd cramp but nothing more.

I am constantly tired and physically cant keep my eyes open after 3pm with out a powernap. Also feeling slightly nauseas. But I think both of those are more due to my mental state and a bit of hormonal craziness.

Because of the negative tests in his office and the negative bloods he is confused and wants to send me to the hospital to see a gynaecologist. He wanted me to go immediately last night, at 4:30, with my 3 year old. I didnt go. It seems like a complete waste of time and I would have had to take DS too, DF was working til 9pm. I just thought, No thanks. I already know what happened, I dont need to sit around in a hospital waiting room for hours with a hungry, tired preschooler, to be told what I already know.

Now someone has suggested maybe I should go and Im not sure. I dont want to waste my time and stress myself out with DS at the hospital for nothing. I would like someone to confirm that I miscarried, I know that I know, but it kind of feels like closure to have it confirmed by the doctor. (Crazy?)

What should I do?
Would there be anyone there to see me today anyway?
Could I just call them and tell them all this and they make the decision on whether its worth me coming in?

Honestly. I think you should stay home.
By what you have said there is nothing that can be done anyway. Unless you are bleeding a lot and in a lot of pain then you will be waiting for a while to confirm what you already know.

Thats what i figured too. Im not bleeding at all now. But the doctor was really pushing for it. :dunno:

You could have some retained product that hasn't come out yet that could be making you feel like that (and I really really hate having to say it like that, I'm so sorry :hug: ) Have you had your iron levels checked? you could be a little low which may explain the extreme tiredness. I would at least be asking to have another scan to make sure that there was nothing still in there. :hug:

I wouldn't, even the other day at 8 weeks with bleeding that was running down my leg and clots, it was by no means classed as an emergency by the Drs. In fact he actually said those words :redface: He told me that unless I was soaking more than 8 pads a day, in great pain or feeling dizzy then there was no need for me to come back. My experience in the E.D was dodgy as, you couldn't pay me to do that again unless absolutely necessary!

ETA: He did an internal right away but was none to enthusiastic about giving me a scan. He wrote out the referral and said 'this isn't something you need to do right away, any time in the next few days is fine :o Luckily when I spoke to the place to book she was kind and got me in right away but it certainly wasn't something they were rushing to do :shakehead:

Trill- should I go to the hospy or another gp? And where in the hospy? I dont want to sit in the ED for hours. Can it wait til Tues when I have DF to look after DS?
He didnt say anything about iron levels (and I didnt think of it), Ive always struggled with my iron though, so it wouldnt suprise me if it was low. I guess he assumed I was going to do as I was told and the hospital would do all the tests...

Wow Maybe, Thats a bit insensitive of your Dr! One extreme to the other, mine was freaking out and yours barely seems to care :/

Maybe you should go to see what is going on inside. Like Trillian said you could still not have passed everything.

That wasn't my Dr Calluna, that was my treatment in the hospital ED, hence why I wouldn't be rushing to go back there any time soon. We were there for hours and there was absolutely no communication going on between the different people we saw at all. The first triage nurse took my details, and when I saw an ED Dr I had to relay it all from the beginning. Then I went for a scan (at the same hospy) and the lady told me to go back down to the ED to discuss my results, went back down to Ed got completely different Dr again who also had not read my file and had to start from the beginning yet again! He left the room like 5 times and kept coming back to ask how many weeks I was, had I had a scan etc. For me going to the E.D was a bloody nightmare! I too had hubby and my DD tagging along who were very over it by the time we got out of there.

I'm waiting to see my private Dr on wednesday, who knows my history and can refer me for scans, tests etc if need be.

Ah, ok, I get it now, sorry. I did know that you were seeing your doctor Wed, just didnt put the two together.

You could bypass the ED altogether though and call direct to the maternity unit. When I was pg with DD I had bleeding but I was already booked into the hospy so I had their direct line on hand. I called them and they were able to let me know what to do, they had me come in (straight up to maternity) because I needed a antiD shot anyway. You might have better luck talking to them directly because it's what they do all day every day. That was at RBWH in Bris.

Honestly I don't know - I'm not familiar at all with city hospitals etc but sitting in an ED for possibly hours on a weekend is not appealing at all. I don't think there is any great rush as such, but it is definitely something that I personally would have followed up on if it were me. They would be able to see if there was anything left in the uterus if they give you a scan.

I rang maternity. They put me through to triage. Who said it's "quiet" at the moment and to come in.

Retained product is not very nice. An ultrasound, will be able to confirm what's happening inside your body.
I would go to hospital if it were me. I think you do need this loss confirmed, I think that you need some assisting stategies to help you manage during this difficut time, and most importantly you need someone in your real life to acknowledge you're genuine heartache.

Bugger the rest of the world today. Take the time and allow yourself to take care of you.
