Household jobs routine?

Does anyone have a routine for what gets done when?

I like to have routine, and since I'll be home for the majority (if not all) of next year with my two little kiddies, I wanted to make one to ensure that everything gets done as well as give myself a bit of a focus for each day (apart from looking after a baby and chasing a toddler that is). Last time I was on leave I struggled not having a 'structure' to my day, so I plan to write myself a bit of a routine/timetable (fully flexible of course), with the household things as well as some activities to do with my kiddies to make sure we all don't get stuck in a rut.

So, if you have one, what is it?

Mines very loose. I've just started taking on the advice of doing things in 15 minute bursts when it gets a bit much. Basically, the morning is the time to get most things done. So while feeding DD brekky, I'll put a load of washing on. Every night I set the timer for a load so it's done when we get up. After brekky I'll unstack the dishwasher and put all the breakfast dishes in, wipe down the kitchen etc. Then I'll put the first load of washing out, then have a shower, and sometimes DD will join me. Then we'll play, DD will have a nap for an hour around 11, I'll either nap in that time, fix my hair and makeup if I want to that day, relax with a cuppa, or fold and put away washing. Then DD wakes, playing, lunchtime. After lunch I try to vacuum a room, then do an activity with DD, then do another room, then do an activity etc. By about 3pm I'm done with chores, whether they're completed or not lol. At about 5-6 I'll start dinner depending on what I have to do (usually veggies, meat etc is all prepped the night before and waiting in the fridge). So I'll cook dinner, eat, do the bedtime routine etc. Once DD is asleep, I'll stack the dishwasher and put that on, wash all non dishwasher dishes, wipe down the kitchen. Then I'll clean up any toys or mess in the lounge and get a load of clothes on for the times wash. Some nights if I didn't vacuum I'll do a quick sweep at night.

My routine is a daily one and it goes as far as 1. put washing on 2. hang out 3. Do the dishes and that is it! Oh and then get the washing back inside in the arvo which doesn't usually involve folding and putting away and the overflowing pile of ironing would also suggest that doesn't get done either! Any other housework can wait until I feel like doing it or I have someone coming over, otherwise I couldn't care if the house is in total chaos.... I have a toddler to play with :D

i have a fairly loose routine, I do all the usual stuff like washing dishes, tidying the loungeroom, hanging out the washing, taking out rubbish etc. every day, usually in the morning if i've had enough sleep :lol: i dont set myself a time to do it, just when i can, but it's gotta be done by the end of the day.
apart from the "daily" things, i have chores that i do weekly, like i vacuum 2x week, mop once, fold/iron/put away clothes 2x per week, clean the bathroom once per week, dusting once per week, and then leave one day to myself :) it feels much more manageable that way and i know it all gets done, without a huge list :)

I clean the inside of the shower glass, mirrors, and basin every morning. The outside of the shower glass and the rest of the shower on Mondays, because then I change the towels and bathmat. Every morning I hang the towels out in the sun for a couple of hours. Monday and Fridays I vacuum the whole house. Mondays I move the lounge and armchairs and vacuum underneath them. Dishes usually get washed (from the night before) about lunchtime, and dinner is supposed to be happening by the time dD gets home at 4pm. I would prefer that the Man and Boy did dishes after dinner as we agreed, but it never happens. I put washing on early on the morning so hang up after breakfast and take inside in the afternoon. Usually it gets folded straightaway. However, getting put away is entirely different story, as I have nowhere to put them!

I always try to do a bit more everytime I do housework, so I have the above 'routine' which keeps the house clean enough for baby, aswell as any visitors (and lets me skip a day in the bathroom if I go out or something), and the extra slowly gets the house cleaner and tidier (like cleaning doorframes- which I noticed are filthy! Plus sorting and discarding) to make the house more comfortable.

I agree that morning and after kids are in bed are the main times for chores.
Bathroom and kitchen I do in the morning. Clothes seem to take all day to wash and dry and fold- I wish I had a laundry fairy to help, the put away is the hardest bit as its low priority. Vacum or mop before lunch. Dd has sleep after lunch while she's asleep I get dinner sorted/ started.
After kids are asleep I tidy the lounge other wise the mess multiplies the next :(

our routine at the moment is pretty simple - there's a limited amount that is going to get done with two active little men!

generally, washing and dishes get put on first thing in the morning, and then unpacked/dryer/hung up as appropriate around morning tea time.

and then each day has a "focus" - eg: mondays, do the kitchen, tuesdays, do the bathrooms, wednesday, floors, thursday, mow the lawn, etc. some weeks, this is a 2 hour solid clean, other days it's fifteen minutes making the most of it. it really depends on the boys.

and we aim to get the boys outside one a day, whether it's playgroup, library, park, whatever.
