Dimple/ divot at base of spine
We went to the GP tonight for DD's 6 week checkup. DD is 7 weeks old today and has a divot/ dimple at the base of her spine that looks a bit deep to me. I showed the dr and she gave us the option of seeing a pediatrician. We took the option.
My understanding is that it can relate to issues with walking. The GP wouldn't really elaborate more that saying that some babies spines don't develop properly.
Apart from that DD is happy and healthy.
Any ideas what the deep divot could be? Is it normal or a possible sign of a problem?

That's good Dansta. Has it stayed as deep or flattened out as your boys got older?

DD has one too that actually got bigger as her bottom got chubbier but I have one too (although if the tip of the coccyx is the centre of a clock mine is at about 3:30) and it hasn't caused either if us any issues.
I just assumed it was like a dimple elsewhere and and not an issue.
I hope that the paed has good news for you.

My dh has one its very deep but he hasn't had any issues guessing its just one of those weird hereditary things

My DD has a dimple there with slightly darker hair too. Being a dr my DH was worried about SBO too but our paediatrician examined her and said it was nothing. It's always better to get checked out if you're not sure.

Thanks for your ideas :-).
I had a shower tonight and discovered I have a deep dimple too. So we will still get DD checked out but it looks like she's simply got one to match mine :-))
Re: Dimple/ divot at base of spine
Both my kids have it. We just need to wipe the poo out of it when they have nappy changes. I had my son's checked out and they did an ultrasound and was nothing.
