What should I do?
So I have been having a really tough time in this pregnancy :( Some days I am ok, but most days I am not. One thing in particular is my hips. I had surgery when i was 13 years old and had a pin put in my right hip. The pin is gone now and I sometimes get arthritis, but it has been x-rayed and all is ok. I will probably need ahip replacement in my 50's. I remember the specialist saying to my mum that I should watch the left hip because in time it may eventually go too:( For the last 2 weeks I have been experiencing sharp pains in my left hip. It feels like someone is stabbing me in my butt cheek. It's kinda like a nerve being pinched or similar. It doesn't help that I frequently have 10 hour shifts at work, but I can't lessen them because I need the money because I am casual :(
Do you think this is pregnancy related? I can't remember the specialist that I saw so am unsure who to see about this? Plus how are they going to see anything if they can't x-ray me? Would it even be worth it?

That kind of pain sounds like sciatica to me, which can be pregnancy related although you are very early days to be getting that kind of pain. Maybe the combo of pregnancy and previous injury is conspiring against you. I would personally see an osteopath or acupuncturist.
Whatever you choose, I think it would be best to see someone now, rather than when you are carrying extra weight as your pregnancy progresses- gives you a chance to develop some management strategies.
Good luck and I hope it eases off for you.

Thanks NicNac, that's what I was thinking. Better get to the bottom of it before it gets too bad. Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!

ouch!
You could speak to a physio or someone like that, maybe? For exercise ideas if it is sciatica. I know swimming helped my pregnancy sciatica a lot.

Just an update, GP says it sciatica :(
Lucky me!

It sounded like sciatica, I suffer from it from time to time and it's not nice!
When pregnant I had a particurally rough time around the 6 month mark, good news is it only lasted a couple of weeks and really improved after that! I hope it doesn't stick around for your whole pregnancy

Thanks Jaycee, it usually comes at the end of the day when I've been on my feet for ages at work. I hope it doesn't get too bad....
