Does anyone have these? They are awful. Unless I scrub them, mopping doesn't clean them as the dirt gets trapped in the tile. Even after scrubbing it doesn't take long for it to look dirty again. I don't have the time or energy to scrub them regularly and they look awful :(
Does anyone know of any machine I can buy or hire that will clean them? Or any other ideas???? Thanks
We had the most awful slate tiles. They always looked dirty and that was before we had kids :lol:. We ripped them up and laid nice even cream tiles. Everyone said "oh they are so expensive don't get rid of them". Blah Blah. Best thing we could have done.
Sorry that's not much help to you though. Have you tried a steam mop?
I would rip them up if I could afford it!!! :) I will one day. No steam mop didn't work :( it doesn't get to the in ground dirt. I'm so desperate to find something that will fix it as I'm sure you know how gross it looks!
I have the same problem, in a rental so I am stuck with them.
I haven't found a solution yet and I hate it soooo much. :(

Sounds like they need to be sealed.
I get on my hands and knees and scrub with a firm scrubbing brush (from hardware shop) once a week. Only thing that works for me...
Wow once a week! What a work out :) we have a very large tiled area, most of down stairs and it would kill me to do it once a week! I'm still hoping there's a machine!
We've got honed travertine and its an absolute nightmare. Recently had them professionally cleaned and the difference is amazing. I have no doubt it will need to be done relatively frequently, but its worth it because they're back to looking like new again. For ongoing maintenance I'm using white vinegar and a bit of eucalyptus oil for mopping, after vacuuming them very thoroughly first.
I've tried a few steam mops and I really don't think they make a difference - maybe professional grade ones do but I can't afford one of them ;-)
It is a pain isn't it! I really hate them! Sorry to hear you have this problem too. How did they do the professional cleaning? Did you have to move all the furniture out?
It was a high pressure steam steam clean and yep, had to move all the furniture - sooooo much fun given that we have 150sqm of tiles and our furniture is mainly solid jarrah!! It really did come up beautifully though so I think we'll look at getting it done every 12 - 18 months
