I know every toddler/child is different, but for your child how long did the Dora fad last for, or is it still going?
I ask because I've just seen a very cute Dora bed in a catalogue that I know DD would love, but if she's likely to not be interested in a couple of years I figure it'll be a waste of money...
About 2 years here... Now the torch has been passed to the younger one... LOL
we're in our second year of being dora mad. And sadly enough it doesnt look like its fading any time soon :lol:
I suppose if you got her the bed, and then grew out of dora, you could give it to your dd2, or even sell it. Dora is like fairies and princess stuff, it has good resale value.
Good point about passing it onto number 2.... DD is just sooo obsessed at the moment!

Both my boys adored Dora for about 18 months then Diego took over. That fad has now waned and I am waiting for the next one.

It took the place of Hi-5, The Wiggles and eeeeeveryone else too! Was awesome. The only thing she has ever been fanatical about was Tom and Jerry and old school WB cartoons, which I can handle. ;)
DD2 is 4 1/2 and she still kind of likes Dora, but is also into other characters like Peppa Pig. I am just so thankful she was not into Dora as much as she was (and kind of still is) into In the Night Garden.
We get Dora on our tv but I keep the the TV on ABC for kids when ds is watching it which doesn't have Dora on that channel. My ds is into other shows/characters but my general rule of thumb is to accessories rather then buy the main item. In your case I wouldn't buy a Dora bed I'd buy a Dora cushion cover and some Dora wall Decals to stick on a plain bed frame, that way when she grows out of it you can change it to whatever she likes next. At the moment I have a Chuggington quilt cover on his bed and I got green and purple sheets to match but I was baring in mind that green & purple could be used to match dinosaurs, pirates or a space theme when he's older iykwim.
Ds2 - 18 months, for both Dora & Diego.
DD2 - 15 months so far and she seems to be over it all now. She's more into Harry Potter now and thinks she is Hermione. Lol.
2 1/2 years here and counting. I am so ready for it to finish. Although she is also really into Dr Who. I can handle that ;-)
budget can also come into it, if you want the bed/bedding to last many years, keep things as plain as possible. That is the cheapest way around it that i can think of. i have bought a Dora toothbrush and Dora knickers (as a tt-ing reward), but nothing that is permanent. i think the franchised stuff is there, because the manufacturers know that kids love it, and that when they grow out of it age group wise, the parents will feel like they have to buy a whole new lot, of whatever the newest fad is. I know i can't manage that updating, so stay away from it.
i'm thinking my dd's bed needs to last her until she is an adult, she will go through many phases from now until adulthood. Buying the Dora accessories (pillows etc) seems like a good compromise, as suggested by Cherished1.
