ergo insert alternatives
Hi all, I just bought the ergo sport carrier but didn't get the insert. DD is 2 months old, and seeing as I am only planning to be a casual carrier user (for eg. supermarket shopping so I can push a trolley instead of pram) I'm not sure it's worth it for me to buy the insert to use for only a couple of months...
So I was wondering if anyone had tried alternatives that worked? For eg, using a blanket etc? Or would that be no good for the baby's posture and neck? Otherwise I can just wait until she's big enough for it :)
Thanks in advance!

I'd buy the insert and then just sell it on ebay when you've finished using it. Or buy one off ebay if you're only going to use it for a short while. I wouldn't use a blanket.
I bought one for our ergo (I think it was $35) and they usually sell for about $20 on ebay, secondhand.

How big is she? My DD fit in the ergo fine from 3 months.
You could also look around for a second hand one? There's a buy/sell/trade thread in the babywearing forum you can post a request to buy one and see if someone has a spare.

I was given a home made one when i bought my ergo second hand. I have never used it, but could send it to you if you wanted to try it.

Thanks for the replies ladies! DD is about 4.6kg so I'm guessing it'll be another month or so until I can try her without insert. I've pretty much talked myself into buying it now, as I do intend to have another bubs so should be worth it?!
HotI - thank you so much for the kind offer, but I think I should just buy one :) I did consider diy but just don't have the time for such things now dd is here...
