Just a quick question..
DD will be 4 at the end of 2013.. so does this mean she will be able to be in kindy/pre prep in 2014?
also, which one would she go to? or is it all a much of a muchness?

Maybe we should make stickys for each state regarding this topic as it comes up alot.....
The facts are:
In Qld to attend kindy (pre prep and kindy are the same thing) the child must be 4 by the 30th June in that year. So if your DD turns 4 in Dec 2013, she will attend kindy in 2014 and prep in 2015.
Maybe you should :)
and thanks for answering my question!
From my understanding for most schools if the child turns 4 after June 30th 2013 or will turn 4 by June 30th 2014 then they can start pre-prep in 2014. (I think?) Some schools such as the Steiner School we wish to send ds to require the child to actually be 4 at the start of the school year so a child who turns 4 in the first half of 2014 wouldn't start pre-prep until 2015 where as in the state school system or probably other private schools that child would start pre-prep in 2014 as I said earlier. I would just check with whatever school you want to send your child to.
in 2014 she will be turning 5 at the end of the year, i think (providing shes the right age, and by what ive read she is) she will do well to start in 2014, i havent really look into where i want to send to, we hadnt needed a reason to look into it until now.
A word of advice, you'll need to get on to a Kindy waiting list now for 2014.
C&K allow you to do a wait list form online for most branch services.
That depends on your location though. I applied for my son to go to kindy next year at the start of term 3 (this year) and had no problem at all getting in. Its a C&K one also.
I see you are on the SC. I can PM you where my DS goes if you like. It's a Long-day care centre but they have the qualified teachers for the pre-prep/kindergarten class. There is a waiting list for them too but if you don't need it until 2014 and sign up now, then you should get in. DS has been there since nursery and DD is in the nursery now. I've been very happy with them and couldn't recommend them highly enough. Every time I hear a daycare horror story, I thank my lucky stars I found this one :)
That would be fantastic rowellen, thank you :-)
