Eyes Brow wax, leg shaves etc Advice?

My 12year old has asked for her eye brows to be waxed for her year 6 formal. I'm undecided if I should allow them to be done for her. Alot of her friends are having professional make up, hair etc for the occassion and I'm trying to think of what I feel is age appropriate (DD is 12) What are others thoughts? She is having her hair done for the formal but no makeup. The only reason I am having her hair done is because its so long and thick and I dont have a creative bone in my body when it comes to doing hair. My cousin's Son had his last year and she commented about how over the top the girls were (high heels, makeup, hair etc) I don't want DD to be over the top but I also don't want her to be the odd one out if all the other girls have all the accessories.

I'd not allow eyebrow waxes or heavy make up. Maybe a natural foundation, bit of bronzer or blush and very light eye shadow as to not be "the odd one out".

I was shaving my legs at 12. I hadn't ever done it before and ended up with a massive cut from the razor.(right before a big event!) I'd recommend maybe a leg wax (doesn't grow back as course or fast!) Depending on the dress of course!

My first question would be - do you think she needs the waxing? I know DD1 is very hairy and has very thick eyebrows like DP so I am guessing by that age she may have asked me already and I think if it is something that really bothers her then I would consider it.

As for make up I would probably say no but allow a bit of blush and lip gloss. That way she still fits in but it's not over the top and you don't have to spend extra money.

DD is quite happy to have hairy legs. She hasn't mentioned wanting to shave or wax although I told her when she wants to (this was years ago) I will wax them for her. I have thick dark hair which only got worse with shaving so would prefer her to wax. Her dress is floor length but she does have thick eye brows and it is only a matter of time before she has a monobrow. She takes after her father in that department

If they are really bushy I'd let her have them waxed. Light make up and a small heel. I was shaving my legs at 11/12 too so I'd probably let her do that too. But maybe after the graduation like in the holidays or something as the dress is long.

Maybe get minimal eyebrow wax then. Don't thin them out too much.

My sister had her yr6 farewell just last year and I was blown away by how overdone some of those young girls looked. Like they were going out in the city on a Saturday night! It was really shocking. I plucked my sisters eyebrows a little just to rid the mono for her without leaving it so she had to keep up maintenance, and put on a little tinted moisturizer, light blush, mascara and shiny lip gloss. And I just put some loose curls in her hair with the straightener and pinned it back. Very simple but pretty. Her friends had spray tans, professional hair and makeup... Luckily she wasn't into any of that.

I would give her a little pluck/shaping, her hair and a little lip gloss. When I was little I loved that sparkle powder stuff too. Definitely no makeup though, what are people thinking doing up 12 year old girls that way? Makes me sad :(

A beauty therapist school mum told me if was fairly normal these days for girls to start with eyebrow waxing in Yr 6, especially if they are quite bushy.

DD1 already has quite the mono brow, so I expect she will want some minor waxing by year 6 (I started plucking occasionally in yr 7)

Would you get away with a little plucking of the eyebrows?

I would let her have a little makeup, ie. lip gloss and maybe a little eyeshadow, nothing over the top.

Boy they grow up fast!

You can get her brow waxed lightly (ie, they don't need to be pencil thin), then teach her how to tweeze the re growth. My DD started doing her legs around then, using an electric shaver. Less fraught than a razor blade.

I think waxing is fine, there are lots of nice salons that will take there time and do a great job for her. I would say probably don't take her to one of the walk in and walk out 2 min later salons as she will be scared to get them done again.
