subchorionic bleed & bedrest/light duties
I am currently 12 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with a subchorionic bleed after a trip to the emergency department with bleeding. When I got my ultrasound results I was told there was nothing I could do to make things better, and nothing I could do to make things worse. This was from one of the staff in the emergency department, not my usual OB. After googling my heart out when I got home, I have read many others have been told to take it easy, been put on pelvis rest (no sex, no heavy lifting) and/or bed rest.
If you have had a subchorionic bleed were you put on bed rest or told to take it easy? And did you? Thanks :)
subchorionic bleed & bedrest/light duties
Hi Peekaboo,
I'm currently 20 weeks (today! Yay)
I had a bleed with cramping at 8 weeks, thought it was all over - bubs was fine and tucked away nicely.
Then the day of our 12 week scan (was 11w3d)
I had a massive bleed with clots - lost 1.3 liters of blood and was in hospital most of the night.
Again bubs was fine!! Cheeky thing making us worry!
And after 2 m/c I was and still sort am , not totally relaxed!
Yes just rest and no heavy lifting, no sex, and listen to your body, if our tired rest or sleep.
I was taking aspirin at the time, and told to stop that too!
I was advised by 16-20 weeks SCH should subside and it has.
Basically it's a bleed between the layers (that would normally be your period) and as the sac is creating pressure in the uterus, it causes the bleed.
I know google is good and bad, and yes I won't lie some outcomes from a SCH aren't good BUT
think positive, rest and it should ease.

subchorionic bleed & bedrest/light duties
Mine was quite a big one initially with a couple of smaller ones and probably took about a month before I was spotting free. I was on bed rest for a week then took things easy until it had resolved.

Peekaboo - I did have exactly what your describing, for approx 6 weeks after my second big bleed.
It is worrying, but certainly can be a good thing as baby grows they kind of push out the bruise/bleed.
Just make sure you ask at your next scan to check its gone, decreased etc.
HTH x
