... Jewellery from exes??
I have some lovely things that my 5-year-mistake gave me that I don't wear, seems a shame but they have too many bad memories attached.
Sell? Don't want to on gift, but it seems a bit nasty to sell them. Is it poor form?
What do you do or have you done?
Wondering if I could sell them to fund the purchase of a gorgeous new baby carrier :rofl:
They're yours to do with as you wish, I think.

Sell them. They were gifts to you. You don't want them. They are just clutter to you and every time you see them they remind you of your "mistake" as you put it. Once they are gone, you'll forget you ever had them.
I'd either sell them or melt it down and make it into something else.
This would be what I'd do too. If they're particularly valuable, melting them down and redesigning them into something else that you'll love that represents something totally different to the "mistake" could be a good way to go.:

Sell, or re-gift with disclosure.
ie: if they would suit a girlfriend of yours, I'd just say, "This was from X, and I don't really wear it. Would you get any use from it? I don't like it sitting unloved in a drawer. Unlike X, who is welcome to sit unloved in a drawer until the end of time."
You can skip the last line if desired.
If a friend said that to me I'd see it for what it is, and not be bothered - unless I too had a negative history with X of course.
And a big YES to a new carrier, because you're awesome.
For the most part I have had stones re-set from jewellery I'm no longer comfortable wearing from ex'es. The gold has been melted down and used to make a new dress ring. My former fiance who passed away had a daughter from a previous relationship, and so I sent my engagement ring and a pair of earrings to his father to hold in trust for D's daughter. It didn't feel right keeping the ring because it WAS an engagement ring, and I couldn't imagine that if I ever did meet another man it would be right to wear a former fiance's ring (whether reset or not) ITMS.
Otherwise, selling it and using the money for whatever makes you happy sits perfectly well with me
If we had kids together I'd keep it for them, but seeing as how you don't then sell it and buy yourself a fancy new carrier LOL
I would sell them or like Peanutter said, give it to someone with full disclosure. There's no point hanging onto them if they're just going to sit in a draw and you may as well use the money for something useful!
I wouldn't wear them - my DH would be livid! Sell for sure. Do you think X cares what you've done with them? Sell them OP!
Yep Lenny that's another reason why they are unworn - DH would hate it! And he has given me such beautiful gifts, I have no need for the other stuff.

Gold buyers in shopping centres might be one place.
No idea ... ebay? Jeweller?
Ebay, gumtree or an independent pawnbroker. Whatever you do, DON'T take them to Cashies, who will give you barely a fraction of what they're actually worth. I'd suggest having them valued by a jeweller first if they are quality pieces.
Thanks CK! Might look at gum tree and eBay for some ideas. I do have a jeweler friend... I've just pulled out a whole lot of gold stuff that I've not worn in like years, so I might take all that down to one of those gold places in the local shops... But I have a gorgeous bracelet and earrings that both have rubies and diamonds in them (just little ones!) and DH says the shopping centre places don't deal with stones so I don't want to waste them...
I've also got some Tiffany earrings that would be worth more as Tiffany I think...
