DD is now 10 weeks old and my supply seems to be pretty stable. I bought maternity bras when pg but they became uncomfortable with my bump. I've just started wearing them again but I'm not sure if they fit. I don't want an misfitting bra because of the risk of mastitis etc.
So my question is... How do you know if bra fits properly?

A well fitting bra won't have your bb's spilling out anywhere, either under your arms or over the top of the cup (not rally applicable with full coverage bras). Your bb will feel comfortabley held in the cup, with a supported feel too, but not necessarily held up too high (after straps adjusted properly). Shoulder straps should be adjusted so that the 'band' of the bra is level from the bottom of the bra at the front (where the bottom of the underwire would be, if there were underwire) to the clasps at the back. You might need to take a few bras to the change room, and take the time to work on adjusting straps, etc. Also when the adjustable clasps are done up at the back, it shouldnt be too tight, aim for a size where it does up on aboit the middle clasp.
There is the proper way of measuring for sizes, but this could be easier. Did you need me to explain that?
I'd get properly fitted just so you know what size to buy. Easier said than done, at this time of year!

Netix, thanks that'd be great. If I get really stuck, I suppose I could go to the ABA shop and get them to check the fit.

Band size of the bra
The band size refers to the measurement taken just below the bust. This is measured by simply
extending the dress making tape around the torso at the point where the band will sit.
Measurements will need to be converted into Australian sizes – for example, if you measured
70 cm or 32 inches, you are likely to require a size 10 bra. Please see the chart below:

UK/US. 30. 32. 34. 36. 38. 40. 42. 44. 46
Measurement above the bust
The second measurement that should be taken is done just above the bust. This measurement
gives an indication of whether the woman has broad shoulders or narrow shoulders and upper
torso. Taking this measurement can help to determine the size cup needed. If two women
measure the same size at the mid bust point, but one has a much narrower torso, then this
means that the actual cup size she will need is going to be larger than a woman with a broader
torso.
Cup size
Measuring your bust size requires you to wrap a measuring tape around the centre of your bust,
which is usually the nipples. Subtract your band size from your bust size to determine your cup
size. Cup sizes are described using letters with the smallest size starting at A and working
upward. Considered alongside the band measurement and the measurement above the bust,
this helps to determine the right size cup to fit you correctly. If this is too big or too small, then
the bra will either be loose, or you’ll end up with unflattering silhouette line where the breast is
being squeezed over the top of the bra.

Copied the above from the Brands Exclusive blog. I'm not sure if it is better to measure/fit when bb are full or not, but remember when fitting, you'll probably have that extra bit of padding of a breast pad.
Apparently we women are supposed to get "regularly" measured to see if we are wearing the right size bra, however, I know I don't, and like other clothes, different bra brands using different sized sizes. :rolleyes:

When I got fitted for my breastfeeding bras they like to allow for full breast.

I thought that might be the case little o. The only time I'm full is before the breakfast feed so I think I'll have to estimate how much bigger The bra should be.
