Decapeptyl injection and Fibroid removal...any success stories??
Hi everyone,
We've been ttc for two and half years-no trace of even a false bfp so far. I've been less active in ttc forums mostly because I got tired of not having anything new to say!
Anyway, my doctor has decided the best way forward is to remove the fibroids in my womb, both of which may be interfering with implantation and one seems to be partially blocking my right ovary. Plus they're growing bigger now and causing me intense pain and crazy heavy periods.
I had to take the decapeptyl injection to stop estrogen production so the fibroids shrink a bit before surgery-essentially the drug puts me on temporary menopause.
Has anyone had any experience with this injection-and what side effects should I expect? I just took it last night.
And I'll really love to hear any success stories of conception after fibroid removal. Does it mean I'll have to have a cs when I do conceive? Right now all I want is a baby and I don't really care about all that-but I'll love to hear your stories.
I really need some encouragement...this journey is taking its toll on me.
Thanks in advance!

Hi zig, I won't go into much detail, but yes I did conceive after my surgery. I had surgery in may then conceived in August. My surgery was 3hrs long as I had quite a few fibroids one of which was golf ball sized and one that was on my cervix. And yes I had a c-section. The multiple incisions on the inside/outside of the uterus can make it quite easy for abruption with contractions ... Which can lead to a whole other bunch of complications. I didn't have the decapeptyl though.

Thanks ladies! You have no idea how encouraging it is for me to hear these stories! My sister has fibroids as well but has had 3 kids (very difficult pregnancies though). I guess I'm just scared about having surgery on my uterus first before a pregnancy (if that makes sense).
Thanks again for responding!
