Role of the weight loss Support Person
Ok so i am the weight loss support person (by default because i am the wife lol)
My problem is i am HOPELESS at all things dieting. No doubt due to the fact i have never really had to because thus far in life my metabolism is working as it should.
DH on the other hand has always struggled, and is on the other hand of the metabolism spectrum.
I really really want to support him and help him achieve his goals. Prior to getting married he was fantastic at being strict, portion control, exercise etc. Now the weight has crept on and i know he isn’t happy with how he his.
I suggested ww. He had agreed despite arguing "then i cant say i have never been on a diet...". Then we decided to use the my fitness pal app. Has anyone had success with this? I am doing it with him, albeit I am going to try and lose 2kg over 3 months :)
The problem as i can see it is i have never had to cook diet. We eat a Mediterranean diet and i have never thought twice about using oil. Or if i wasn’t butter i do it, or cheese etc. Nothing in excess, but i use it nonetheless
What do i need to watch out for though? How can i change my cooking style to help him? I hate that its my lack of self control that makes him worse :(
How do you help your partner or how would you like to be supported to reach your goals.
I do all the cooking so buck stops with me there...

I agree that portion control is the key.
I've lost around 10kg by reducing portions rather than fussing about low fat, carbs, oils etc etc. I still eat butter, drink full fat milk, chocolate, the odd cake but my day to day eating is lots of veggies , lean meat etc.
Does he drink much alcohol? A lot of my excess weight was down to wine

I put DH on the CSIRO diet about 2 years ago. He has lost 18kg and has kept it off. We only followed it for dinners, had cereal for breakfast, fruit for a snack, sandwich for lunch, fruit for an afternoon snack and then the CSIRO for dinner.
It took heaps of effort on my part to start with as I'm the sole Cook and shopper - and I had to purge the house of snacks which I then missed as well :) but I would recommend it - it's done DH the world of good
