Opinions on what to do with DD1 baby stuff???

Ok after some opinions. Baby #2 is coming in July. The baby's room is literally filled with DD1 baby clothes, and I mean filled - entire wardrobe, chest of draws plus enough piled on floor to fill another wardrobe and that doesn't include the stuff in tubs in our garage. Anyone I kept it all thinking that if I had another girl then is be set but I'm thinking I'm gunna have a boy - very different pregnancy this time - so after advice..

Do I clear it out and put all in bags and only keep out the neutral clothes or do I leave it till bub arrives and I know what the sex is??

Keep it all .... :) ...u will be surprised what you still use even if the new baby is the opposite sex of what you have majority wise ...

Hmmm, is finding out the sex of the baby an option at your 20wk scan?
That's what I'll be doing, I have so many clothes and things for a little princess already from my first baby, so I'd like to be organised before bub arrived in June :)

If you don't want to know the sex of the baby, I suggest just sorting out the 0000 and 000 clothes for now, bearing in mind how busy you will be after your baby arrives in July though, you won't get much of a chance to do much sorting then!!!

I have tubs of DD's clothes as well. Kept them all thinking I may be having another girl and I found out at my 20 week scan that I am having a boy. I have gone through them all and taken out neutrals, etc. But I still have HEAPS of stuff. Not sure what to do with it all.

Sell it, give it away or put it in a charity bin? I have kept a few special items seperatly for her when she is older to dress her little girl in or just keep as sentimental. My mum did the same for me.

Originally I kept everything of DD but as time went on & so did the gap between us falling pg with our second, I ended up being ruthless and donated all the clothes that were still in useable condition but may have had slight fading or pilling etc... (we still had alot)

We found out the sex of bubs and it was another girl so ended up keeping it all and have used pretty much all of it at the moment.

I'd consider finding out the sex of bubs and go from there. If they are going to be different sexes, consider selling on eBay or Gumtree to fund purchases for baby.

We didn't find out sex either time before baby arrived. During pregnancy #2, I sorted all my clothes into unisex 000 and smaller; girls 000 and smaller; unisex 00 and 0, and girls 00 and 0.

I filled baby's drawers with the newborn unisex stuff, and when i didn't need the girly clothes they just went back in the top of the cupboard.

Alot of my clothes, especially the baby baby ones are kinda neutral anyway.

Assuming you have a bub of the same gender you will need to find somewhere to store the clothes anyway so just store clothes and sort and wash newborn neutral sizes ready for next bub

I couldn't help myself and found out and it's opposite gender but I'm still reusing a fair bit

The only advice I have is that anything that has elastic and you don't need it - get rid of it. I kept so many things after I had our first baby (a boy) hoping I could use them again, then we had a girl second and used some of it, but I still kept all this stuff JIC the third was a boy, but when I got it out, all the elastic had perished and was no good anyway. All that time it could be been used by someone else and now it couldn't. Things that had elasticated waists etc.

i got ruthless and like RCC got rid of the stuff that although still in good condition, was a bit wash faded or slightly pilled. Just kept the really good stuff and the really good condition essential stuff. But it did mean that i had buy a bit more stuff here and there which although annoying was the right thing to do as the stuff i gave away was high use stuff.

Get some space saving bags & some storage tubs & put it all away. I did that with DD1 & luckily because I had 3 girls. It's all come in handy even if it was just some tatty stuff for a few days before we shopped after a growth spurt. Good quality stuff should last a few kids too.
